Oxalis Games, the team behind cozy life sim farming RPG Moonfrost, has announced the OG Mystery Box Sale, which is scheduled to start on June 12 in two different phases.
The Original Gnome (OG) Mystery Box is a bundle of 4 useful items designed to help you kick off your play to earn adventures in Moonfrost. By buying this mystery box, you will end up being among the first 1000 players to start earning in the Open Loot-powered title.
The OG Mystery Box specifically contains the following 4 items:
While the OG Gnome is guaranteed to be included in each lootbox, the rest is random, so you could end up getting all 3 different Collectible Items, or multiple of the same. The rarities of each item are also not guaranteed, except for the gnomes, which all have the same Epic rarity. FROSTprints, FROST Workbenches, and Luck Charms can be traded and rented on the Open Loot Marketplace.
FROSTprints are tradable blueprints that unlock the ability to craft Frost Tools, which are enhanced versions of regular tools that actually allow you to earn tokens. While Frost Tools are not tradable, they do give you the Luck attribute, which is what enables you to play and earn tokens through gameplay, so the more Luck you have, the more tokens you could potentially earn. The quantity of Luck a Frost Tool has will depend on its rarity, which also affects its durability as well. A higher durability means an increased number of uses before it breaks. It’s not possible to repair tools, so once you’ve used it a certain number of times to chop trees, mine stone and ores, or catch fish, it will break and be gone forever, requiring you to craft a new one to gain access to earning tokens through loot drops.
While FROSTprints are the crucial component in gaining access to crafting Frost Tools, actually having the option to craft them in the first place is only possible through owning a tradable FROST Workbench. These crafting tables are similar to Time Wardens in Big Time, and come in 9 different rarities that determine the maximum rarity of Frost Tools that you can craft. In a later version of this web3 game, they will also allow you to upgrade FROSTprints to a higher rarity, so long as the Workbench itself is at least as high as that rarity you would like to upgrade to. It's also important to note that if you have a FROSTprint that is rarer than your FROST Workbench, then you won't be able to use the FROSTprint to craft the tool on that Workbench. The Workbench needs to be at least the same rarity or higher to actually be able to use your FROSTprint.
Last but not least are Luck Charms, which are items that boost your Luck. They also are split into 9 different rarities, so the rarer the Charm, the more Luck it awards. You can fuse up to 3 Luck Charms into a Frost Tool depending on the rarity of the tool in question. Common, Uncommon, and Rare Frost Tools can only equip 1 Luck Charm, while Epic, Legendary, and Mythic Frost Tools have 2 slots, and Exalted, Exotic, and Transcendent tools let you add a max of 3 Charms to fully boost your earning potential.
As for the OG Gnome, well, we don’t actually know what it does yet, but the team says that “you’ll want to hold onto this little guy.”
Combined with the Early Access Bundle that sold out in 30 seconds during the whitelist phase, the circulating supply of Collectible items is set to look like this:

Moonfrost's OG Mystery Box Sale begins on June 12 in two different phases: the Whitelist Phase (GTD) from 1 PM to 1:10 PM UTC, and the Public Phase (FCFS) from 1:10 PM to 2 PM UTC.
The total supply of Mystery Boxes is 1833, while the price per box is $149.99. This sale should go live on Open Loot, just as the Early Access Bundle did last month.
In the Whitelist Phase, buyers will be able to buy up to 2 Mystery Boxes, while up to 5 Mystery Boxes can be purchased in the Public Phase, including any bought in the WL stage. The key difference between the two phases is that whitelisted buyers are guaranteed to snag a Mystery Box, while the public sale is done on a first come, first serve basis, with a minimum of 200 Boxes guaranteed to be allocated to this open phase, according to the official Discord announcement.
Submissions for an official WL spot have been closed, so you’ll have to try and buy a Mystery Box in the public stage of the sale if you want to be among the first players to play and earn in Moonfrost when it launches in Early Access potentially later this month for Windows PCs and Mac on the Epic Games Store. A mobile version is set to follow at some point in the future. Accessing this early version of the game however will require owning a Gnome Key, which was included in the Early Access Bundle but can now be purchased separately for about $10 on the Open Loot marketplace.
