Web3 gaming ecosystem Monsters.fun has announced new details regarding the AI-powered monsters debuting together with the platform’s flagship game launch on August 28, explaining how tokenomics actually work while opening up a token allocation checker on the official website.

What Is Monsters.fun?

Monsters.fun is an AI-powered blockchain gaming ecosystem and turn-based RPG on the Abstract that revolves around giving players the ability to buy and train Monster Tokens, which are AI agents represented as cute 2D monsters that can be deployed in turn-based battles to earn rewards. Each Monster Token has its own market cap, and by winning battles using the Monster Token you’re holding, you get to steal the market cap of the opponent’s AI agent, leading to an increase in the price of your token. By battling to increase the market cap of the token you’re holding, you get to profit in the process.

In May 2025, the ecosystem launched Monster Capsules on Abstract via OpenSea. Monster Capsules are 750 Genesis NFTs that act as premium passes providing exclusive in-game cosmetic skins, perks such as in-game performance multipliers for the Training Dojo, boosted ecosystem airdrops, and possibly more. The floor price for a Monster Capsule is 0.3388 ETH at the time of writing.

How Do Monster Tokenomics Work?

The Monster tokenomics on Monsters.fun are fairly simple: you buy Monster Tokens, use them to engage in 1v1 battles, and profit by stealing the loser’s market cap if your monster wins. The market cap of your monster rises as a result, making it a win-win for holders of the same token.

Three Monster Tokens will go live on the game’s launch on August 28: Blazecock, Swampzzz, and SBF.

Each of these tokens operate on a bonding curve, so you have instant liquidity to buy and sell whenever you want to.

During these Pokémon-like battles, you won’t be able to just rely on luck to win. You will need to strategize and train your monster to be the more intelligent AI with better stats.

Each monster has special abilities and 4 different stats: Health, Speed, Attack, and Defense. To make your AI agent stronger, you will have to spend some time in the Training Dojo. It’s in the training grounds where you will be able to level up your monster by fighting AI monsters and building up win streaks to earn XP. Every win makes your AI smarter and stronger, thus better prepared to actually dabble in high-stakes fights. Leveling up your monster can unlock new stats, abilities, and even forms. Based on the battle image provided in the official X thread, it looks like there will be two training options. One will let you train your monster for free, while the other training option requires you to spend a certain amount of Monster Tokens to level up your creature.

It’s important to note that training these AI monsters is actually a collaborative effort. This means that all holders of the same Monster Token can work together to level up their battle monster of choice.

Next to explaining how these essential game mechanics will work, the tokenomics announcement also unveiled that it will be possible to earn rewards from the Player Leaderboard. There will be a weekly leaderboard, where the top players will earn an unspecified share of platform fees, and there will also be a global all-time ranked ladder, where the best players can look forward to winning ecosystem rewards and “future token drops.” Players will rank on these leaderboards based on points earned from holding winning monsters, training, and inviting friends. The exact prizes have not been specified at the time of writing, but I do expect Abstract XP to be among the mix given that the platform and game are launching on the consumer-focused blockchain.

Other details that you’d usually expect to see when it comes to tokenomics have not actually been provided, but it will be interesting to see this gamified tokenomics system play out in action. The announcement did not mention the total token supply, allocation details, nor starting price, but it won’t be long before the first 3 Monster Tokens go live on August 28, alongside the game’s launch, giving blockchain gamers a new AI-powered play to earn title to enjoy on Abstract.

Token Allocation Checker Now Live

If you’ve been earning Battle Points in Monsters.Fun for a chance to win whitelist spots and free monster tokens for the game’s launch, then now is the time check if your efforts have been worth it, as the official token allocation checker is now live on the ecosystem’s website.

To check your token allocation, simply open the website’s main page and click on the “Quick Check Allocation” button next to the sign in button. From there, you will be able to enter your X handle to find out what rewards await. If you’ve been successfully whitelisted, you can expect to receive bonus tokens with every purchase you make, with players who buy earlier said to receive larger bonuses. Every eligible player is given a specific allocation to spend, and there is only 24 hours to spend this allocation. Be sure to jump in the game on August 28 as soon as possible to make the most of your limited time allocation.

Play to Earn in Monsters.Fun on August 28

Once the game launches on August 28 on Abstract, anyone will be able to begin their play to earn adventure in Monsters.fun by buying their preferred Monster Token. An exact time of day for the launch was not provided.

There will be 3 different AI-powered monsters to choose from for the initial release. Pick whichever you prefer and become a part of a big trainer squad of holders working to make their AI agent smarter and stronger by battling in the Training Dojo against AI-controlled monsters. Take on turn-based battles against other Monster Tokens and win these turn-based fights to steal market cap and increase the price of the Monster Token you’re holding. Each Monster Token is on a bonding curve, giving holders instant liquidity to buy and sell.

As holders work to increase the market cap of the AI agent they’re holding in order to profit, there will also be weekly and all-time leaderboards to climb for a potential chance of winning other rewards, including shares of platform fees, future token drops, and ecosystem prizes.

If you like old-school turn-based games and are a big fan of Pokémon, this Abstract-powered AI game should be right up your alley. Sign up on Monsters.fun with your crypto wallet to get ready to enjoy this browser-based blockchain gaming experience.
