GameFi ecosystem MOBOX has officially announced “the first-ever co-created and co-governed open world,” Dragonverse Neo.

What Is Dragonverse Neo?

Dragonverse Neo marks the start of a new era, the core of MOBOX 2.0 that aims to move away from traditional play-to-earn and GameFi mechanics by moving to a new model that represents an open world that is co-created, co-governed, and focused on creating “sustainable and thriving economies,” according to the announcement.

Co-Creation

The reason this new upcoming 3D blockchain title is being described as co-created is because UGC (user-generated content) will be at the heart of it. Players will be able to creatively express themselves by shaping and customizing their own characters, items, and maps, enabling the opportunity to create new stories and gameplay mechanics, including mini-games with their own micro-tokenomics and open marketplaces.

Co-Governance

Co-governance is another key aspect of this open world. It’s described as a “revolutionary concept” that will allow the community to “steer the course of the game’s evolution.” This means that MOMO owners, as well as holders of $MBOX, MODragon, and veMBOX, will have a say in the development of the game. According to the official post, holders will be able to propose and add new game elements and content, including things such NPCs, Points of Interest (POI) on the map, unique gated mini-games, and more. They will also be able to influence various game mechanics, voting on things such as commission fees in the in-game marketplace. How rewards are distributed to the community is another point of discussion that comes with co-governance, and so is initiating partnerships.

Alpha Test

An official alpha launch is planned to take place at some point in 2024, with the specific date set to be announced in the future. It will be accessible using an exclusive Dragonkey, which is a 6-digit code that can be claimed by holders of over 10k $veMBOX, as well as by holders of MODragons of at least Rare rarity. A snapshot of the latter was taken on December 20th. If you don’t meet either criteria, then you can look forward to various community events through which more Dragonkeys will be given out.

Earlier this week, MOBOX kicked off the MOMO Xmas Merge event, scheduled to end on January 20th, 2024.
