The Cosmic Hunt Begins
Gala Games has officially started the Cosmic Hunt in Mirandus: Eternal Night. The event opened after what the team calls the Anchor of Stability reached its absolute limit, a story beat that triggers the hunt across the Echo Realm.
The event is completely open to everyone. Any adventurer can step into the darkness and join the fight, with no gated access or invite required to take part. That marks a shift from the invite-only alpha window the game ran earlier, widening the door for new players to jump in.
At the center of the hunt is a 1,000 GUSDC bounty. GUSDC is the US dollar stablecoin on GalaChain, so the prize pool carries a value of roughly 1,000 USD for players to split. Participants claim their share by taking part in the event inside the onchain RPG.
What Players Need to Know
The Cosmic Hunt builds on the survival loop that defines Mirandus: Eternal Night. Players enter the Echo Realm as Echoes, the basic character type, and venture out under a fog of war to fight, gather, and return to safety. The bounty rewards those who engage with the event's combat and risk it adds to the map.
Opening the hunt to all players turns it into a community-wide push rather than a closed test. The framing ties directly into the game's lore, where light means safety and darkness means opportunity. Stepping into the dark to chase the bounty fits the high-risk, high-reward structure the title was built around.
Inside Mirandus: Eternal Night
Mirandus: Eternal Night is a persistent hex-based exploration and auto-battler RPG set in the wider Mirandus universe. The future-of-play title was introduced on April 1, 2026, opening a new chapter for the franchise. Players step into the Echo Realm to fight back against a cosmic void known as The Absence, in a world where the sun is fading and darkness keeps spreading.
The gameplay loop centers on explore, risk, gather, and return alive. Players spend Energy to move across a hex grid, trigger events, and fight roaming enemies in turn-based auto-battles. The catch is steep. If a character's HP drops to zero, that character dies and the player loses all non-NFT inventory. To lock in loot and heal, players must make it back to the safety of a player-owned, lighted Town.
That survival tension drives the entire experience. Cities stand as fragile pockets of light, and every step beyond them is a gamble between bigger rewards and total loss. The play-to-earn design pushes players to weigh how far to push their luck before retreating to secure what they have gathered.
The web3 title represents a notable format shift for Mirandus. The franchise was originally marketed as an open-world fantasy MMORPG, with Gala selling NFT assets against that vision for years. Eternal Night reframes the universe as a hex-based auto-battler, a genuinely different product from the open-world concept first announced.
From Alpha to Open Event
Gala Games opened exclusive alpha access for Mirandus: Eternal Night in early May 2026, with an invite system at the project's official links. During that phase, players started as Echoes, while the NFT-based characters known as Exemplars were not yet available. The team used the window to gather feedback on game interactions, warning that gameplay changes and feature resets were expected as it fine-tuned the experience.
The alpha was framed as a head start for stockpiling resources before the game scaled up. Players were advised to actively gather materials to prepare for a Store launch and a challenging Boss Event, both listed as upcoming additions. Integration of the original Mirandus NFTs was also named as a planned feature without a confirmed date.
The Cosmic Hunt extends that rollout by giving the broader community a reason to log in and a stablecoin reward to chase, moving past the closed test toward wider participation.
The Economy and GalaChain
Mirandus: Eternal Night runs on GalaChain, the layer-1 blockchain that powers Gala's entertainment ecosystem. That ecosystem has historically spanned Gala Games, Gala Music, and Gala Film, with the GALA token at its center. The original Mirandus economy leaned on two tokens, GALA for purchasing NFTs and Materium, known as MTRM, for moving actions and characters in the world.
The long-term economy in Eternal Night is built around player ownership. Town ownership and shop placement form the planned backbone, letting players capture value from the activity flowing through the map. Owning towns, placing shops, and controlling trade are core to the design, though those systems are still being layered in as the game develops. Light drives trade, visibility, and player activity, which makes controlling lit areas a path to economic influence.
The 1,000 GUSDC bounty plugs a stablecoin reward directly into that loop. Using GUSDC, a dollar-pegged asset on GalaChain, gives the prize a steady value rather than tying it to a more volatile game token. That choice can make the payout easier for players to value as they decide how much risk to take on during the hunt.
Why the Event Matters
Opening the Cosmic Hunt to every player signals confidence in the game's core loop after the alpha period. By removing the invite barrier, Gala invites a much larger audience to test the survival mechanics, the auto-battler combat, and the risk-reward structure that the title hinges on. A stablecoin bounty adds a tangible incentive on top of the lore-driven hook.
The event also reflects Gala's pattern of running frequent live events in Mirandus to keep players engaged. Earlier hunts in the franchise offered large GALA prize pools, including a 128,200 GALA treasury split among top finishers in the Dusk of the Broken event from November 28 to December 1, 2025, and the same size pool in an August 2025 event built around the assassin Fintan. The Cosmic Hunt swaps that model for a stablecoin reward and an open-door format.
For a game still moving from alpha toward full launch, a community-wide event with a cash-equivalent prize is a way to build momentum and pull in players who skipped the invite phase.
What Comes Next
Several major features remain on the roadmap for the onchain RPG. The Store and a larger Boss Event are both listed as coming additions, alongside the planned integration of original Mirandus NFTs and the Exemplar character type. Town ownership and the shop-driven economy are set to deepen as the game scales beyond its current state.
For now, the Cosmic Hunt gives players an open entry point into the Echo Realm and a share of the 1,000 GUSDC bounty to fight for. Adventurers can step into the darkness, take on The Absence, and test how far they are willing to push before the night claims them.
