Season 2 of xMetaCene, the browser mini-game of blockchain MMORPG MetaCene, is now officially live on Google Chrome, introducing new ways for players to earn a share of the total prize pool on the Mantle Network until July 4th.
This season brings collaborations with various NFT collections, and if you happen to own one of the partnered NFTs, you will be rewarded with “special welcome gifts.” Some of the partnered IPs include BAYC, Pudgy Penguins, Azuki and more.
Next to exclusive rewards for owning partnered NFTs, players now have more ways to earn than ever before thanks to the introduction of new quest types. Alongside quests and daily bosses, you can also spin the Wheel of Fortune to see If you’re lucky enough with tMAK tokens and other goodies. These tokens are said to serve as a “stepping stone” to the mini-game’s ecosystem, unlocking exclusive features while potentially being able to convert it into the $MAK governance token at some point in the future.
The first season reportedly feature over 210k players. To play, you’ll have to install the game’s browser extension through the Google Web Store and login with your X account while using an invitation code. The default invite code is MC2024. Once you’re in, you get a free robot pet who mines for you. From here you may want to bind your wallet to unlock rewards and advanced features before you begin completing quests.
The developers have partnered with blockchain infrastructure Mantle to bring their native governance MNT gas token to this season’s prize pool, meaning that there are 3 million TMAK and 200k MNT tokens up for grabs through various activities.
Here is how TMAK is distributed:
As for MNT, 50k of it is reserved for those who bind their wallet in xMetaCene and log in to the MMORPG, while 150k tokens are rewarded through playing the mini-game, with every box from the Lucky Box lottery said to contain up to 50 MNT tokens.
Earlier this year, MetaCene secured $10 million in a Private A funding round led by Folius Ventures and SevenX Ventures, while Animoca Ventures, The Spartan Group and more also participated.
