MEGAWEAPON has officially launched Season 3 as of November 29, bringing a 10 million $WEAPON token prize pool to its player base. This marks the start of its most content-packed season to date, rolling out major changes to its game systems while adding new weekly competition formats on the Abstract Chain.

Season 3 Goes Live With Weekly DEGEN Seasons

This time, Season 3 comes with a weekly DEGEN competition. Each week, 500,000 $WEAPON tokens from the total 10 million pool will be distributed among active players. All matches now contribute to a player's DEGEN score, which ranks them on the new DEGEN leaderboard.

The previous Tournament Leaderboard system has been removed. Instead, players can now score points in Tournament, Team, and Custom Lobbies, but without any multiplier by default. These raw scores determine how much of the weekly prize a player gets.

To increase their scores and climb the rankings faster, players can use DEGEN Credits, which act as point multipliers. A single credit gives a x2 multiplier, two credits grant x3, and so on. While DEGEN Credits are optional, they give players an edge in reaching the top rewards each week.

New Team Modes and Custom Lobbies

Season 3 also unlocks 2 new multiplayer formats: Team Deathmatch and Domination. These modes allow players to fight in groups instead of solo. Team-based play is now supported by Custom Lobbies, where anyone can create or join private games.

Custom Lobbies are open to all players with a Tournament Pass, and points earned in them count toward DEGEN rankings. This update also sets the stage for future Team Events, which are now in the works.

Quickplay Focuses on Small Maps

All Quickplay matches in Tournament and DEGEN Modes now take place on small maps. These include Sunset Strip, Beech Buns, and One Small Step. Smaller maps offer fast-paced matches, allowing for more frequent play for those chasing weekly leaderboard gains.

Weekly Upvoting Brings Bonus Credits and Points

Those who upvote MEGAWEAPON each week on Abstract can earn bonus DEGEN Credits and extra leaderboard points. These votes help boost their standing and increase their $WEAPON rewards.

The DEGEN leaderboard has also been updated to show Total Score for both the current season and all-time performance. You can now see your projected $WEAPON earnings live on the leaderboard as your scores rise or fall. In the user profile, a new display shows $WEAPON balance along with DEGEN Credits and Tournament Passes.

No Multiplier Needed to Earn From the Prize Pool

One major change this season is that every Tournament Pass holder is eligible to earn from the 10 million $WEAPON pool without needing to buy DEGEN Credits. As long as you take part in matches using Tournament, Team, or Custom formats, your scores will go straight to the leaderboard, and you'll qualify for rewards based on your placement.

For players looking to max their returns, DEGEN Credits remain the only way to multiply their points and move up the leaderboard faster.

How to Get Started in MEGAWEAPON

MEGAWEAPON is free to play and runs in your browser via its main site, megaweapon.gg. While the game is free to enter, you'll need a Tournament Pass to get $WEAPON rewards and unlock DEGEN Mode.

There are 3 options for Tournament Passes:

  • 7 days for 0.0025 ETH
  • 30 days for 0.0069 ETH
  • 90 days for 0.02 ETH

Each pass grants access to Tournament Mode and allows point scoring in DEGEN Mode (without multipliers).

If you want to boost your scores with multipliers, you can buy DEGEN Credits. Credit packs are priced as follows:

  • 1 Credit for 0.000069 ETH
  • 10 Credits for 0.00069 ETH
  • 100 Credits for 0.0069 ETH

Tournament Passes and DEGEN Credits are both available on the MEGAWEAPON homepage.

Gameplay: A Look Inside the Arena

MEGAWEAPON is a top-down, live-action multiplayer game that runs in 3D. Each player controls a Degen character in fast-paced matches where shooting, dodging, and collecting weapons decide the outcome.

Movement is controlled using the WASD keys, with Shift for sprint and Space for dodge roll. Health is shown by a green bar, and stamina by a blue one. Running and dodging use stamina, which takes time to recharge.

Weapons are collected by picking up items marked by colored checkmarks across the map. You can only carry one melee, one primary, and one secondary weapon at a time. Combat is real-time: Left-click shoots, right-click uses the secondary, and R reloads. When out of ammo, players automatically drop their primary weapon and fall back to their machete.

Mega Weapon Parts and Activations

As in the game's name, MEGAWEAPON features powerful mega weapons that can be unlocked mid-match. To do this, you must collect special parts dropped by defeated enemies and deposit them at helipads scattered around the map.

Each type of part unlocks a different mega weapon:

  • Purple parts summon The Mech
  • Green parts unlock The Ninja
  • Blue parts activate The Garbage Truck (team-based)

You can check your progress toward unlocking these weapons by looking at the bar below your stamina and the icons next to your name.
