Blockchain gaming ecosystem MapleStory Universe (MSU) has launched the OpenSea Primary Drop Campaign on May 6th, and you have until May 12th, 13:00 UTC to mint and claim exclusive items that you will be able to use in the renowned franchise’s first crypto game on May 15th.
The OpenSea Primary Drop Campaign is a limited-time event through which you are able to get some exclusive on-chain items that you will be able to use in MapleStory N.
Specifically, the blockchain gaming community can mint and claim the MSU Scroll SBT. By getting this soulbound asset, holders can expect to be airdropped two exclusive in-game items to their qualifying wallets before the game is officially live. These rewards include an OpenSea Chair and NXPC Headband. Both in-game items are also SBTs, meaning that they will be tied to your account, preventing owners from transferring and trading their claimed rewards.
MapleStory Universe has teamed up with OpenSea to host this free mint event in celebration of the upcoming MMO launch, with Avalanche C-Chain being the blockchain on which the minting is taking place. Here’s how you can mint and claim your in-game items.
From May 6th to May 12th, 1 PM UTC, anyone can free mint and claim exclusive MSU items in the OpenSea Primary Drop Campaign by heading to the collection’s official minting page, logging in, and simply clicking on the mint button with a connected wallet to free mint one MSU Scroll SBT on the Avalanche C-Chain. You can only mint one MSU Scroll SBT per wallet. While there is no mint price, you do need a bit of $AVAX to cover transaction gas fees.
Once you have successfully confirmed the transaction and minted the exclusive asset, you can then look forward to receiving in-game SBT items as an airdrop on May 14th on the same wallet that you used to mint, according to the official announcement. In order to qualify for the rewards though, you’ll want to make sure that you are using the same wallet address for both OpenSea and MapleStory Universe Web accounts.
So, if you want to have some unique items to use in the game, make sure to join in on this mint before the campaign ends, as it doesn’t seem like there will be any way to get these digital collectibles ever again in the future. Although it hasn’t been explicitly stated, anyone who gets these items will likely be able to use them when the game launches on May 15th, or soon afterwards.
While this is a free mint, it has been quite a successful one so far. It took only 8 hours from the start of the campaign to hit 100k mints. About a day later, that number has gone to 350k mints, and at the time of writing, which is almost 2 days later, more than 430k MSU Scroll SBTs have been minted to date. At this rate, it looks very much like we’re heading to around 1 million mints before the end of this special event.
This celebratory campaign is happening because MapleStory N, the first blockchain in MapleStory Universe, is launching on May 15th. If the mint numbers are anything to go by, it looks like it’s going to be quite a massive launch for the web3 version of the classic side-scrolling MMORPG. Anyone will be able to enjoy the free to play title on PC, with the ecosystem’s own Avalanche-powered Henesys chain used to power the game and its player-driven economy by providing a gasless blockchain gaming experience while enabling real player ownership of in-game assets.
