Magnificent Century, a popular Turkish TV series with more than 500 million viewers around the world, has formed a partnership with The Sandbox to bring the historical fiction show over to the well-known voxel-based metaverse.
The partnership was made official over at a recent global launch event held by The Sandbox in Paris, which began with a workshop that had the theme “Magnificent Century” and marked the attendance of the show’s production company, TIMS Productions, alongside game development studios Hungri Games and UGC90. This was followed up with a panel on how the Turkish series could be integrated into this metaverse, with the panel ending with a signing ceremony in which The Sandbox co-founder & COO Sebastien Borget, Magnificent Century producer & TIMS Productions founder Timur Savcı, and The Sandbox country manager, Arslan Kiran, all participated.
Sebastien Borget said the following at the ceremony:
“We’re excited to welcome such a globally acclaimed Turkish series as 'Magnificent Century' at The Sandbox and further strengthen our growing presence in this important region.”
This marks the first Turkish series to be entering The Sandbox metaverse, with the collaboration set to include a revival of the memorable venues and atmosphere present in the series, as well as a reimagining of characters from the last quarter of this year into avatars. There will be a couple of events for players to enjoy, including a gamified experience, with plans to launch avatar and NFT collections. The partnership also makes it possible for creators to develop their own experiences based on the series.
Producer Timur Savcı added the following:
“We are delighted to collaborate with The Sandbox team for this exciting venture. 'Magnificent Century' has been a global TV milestone breaking several records and now, by bringing it into the world of gaming through this partnership, we continue to prioritize innovation. We’re happy and excited to be pioneers in building a bridge between our treasured heritage and the new generation. And we can’t wait to hear about The Sandbox players’ experiences in the 'Magnificent Century' land where they can play, explore and create new virtual worlds.”
