Here's all you need to know about Mint Madness by Magic Eden

Magic Eden, a popular cross-chain NFT marketplace, is launching Mint Madness, a series of free blockchain gaming mints in March.

Based on the announcement, fans and players will be able to mint free NFTs from 12 participating blockchain games. This includes Planet Mojo, MetaStar Strikers, Alaska Gold Rush, PAPU, Realm Hunter, Shrapnel, Petobots, Legendary: Heroes Unchained, Blast Royale, Moonlit Games, Tearing Spaces, and Freckle TV.

With this event, everyone can join new blockchain gaming ecosystems without any upfront costs. Those who are priced out from any of the games listed above may want to take this opportunity to grab some free NFTs. The mint schedule for each project is available on its social channels.

"We've observed that many games entering Web3 do not necessarily need to use NFTs as a monetization tool. However, NFTs are a really important user engagement tool for them to share their vision and work with a highly captive and invested audience," said Chris Akhavan, Chief Gaming Officer at Magic Eden.

To boost engagement, Magic Eden will post a leaderboard of the top NFT traders across the Mint Madness event. The top 10 traders by volume on the Polygon collections will be entered into a prize pool of 20,000 MATIC (about $25,500), with the first-place winner receiving 4,500 MATIC (about $5,400) in prizes.

While players can participate in the public mint, they can also register here for a chance to be added to a whitelist that gives them pre-access to all project mints. 50 wallets for each project will be drawn a day before the mint. Participants must watch Magic Eden's Twitter feed to see if they were selected.

No doubt, the cross-chain NFT platform has been showing a growing interest in blockchain gaming. Chris Akhavan, a former executive at Electronic Arts, was hired as the company's Chief Gaming Officer in December. Last week, its venture arm Magic Eden Ventures invested in 11 Web3 gaming studios.
