Web2 and web3 gaming publisher Triumph Games has announced that they have officially acquired blockchain fantasy MMORPG Legends of Elumia.
Why Did Triumph Games Acquire Legends of Elumia?
To date, the Ronin-powered title has been playable only by NFT holders and, for a limited time, to anyone who purchased the Ronin Game Pass to earn leaderboard rewards and participate in a $100k laddered raffle. The Ronin Game Pass event ended after 4 weeks, with pass progress said to be saved.
Triumph Games is looking like they plan on very much changing the gated approach. By acquiring Legends of Elumia, they’ve stated that their goal is to introduce an “ease of access” free to play model to the web3 game, so we can expect to see it be properly open to the masses in the future for anyone to enjoy, whether they’re into web3 gaming or not.
The exact details on what this F2P model will exactly look like is not yet known. We can probably expect a new type of monetization system to be implemented, one that hopefully won’t make the game pay to win. Now that the developers are under new management, it’s also not clear whether any changes are being made to the team either, nor what the development plans will now be. Most of this will probably become clearer in the coming weeks. Maybe even on Thursday, April 10th, at 3 PM UTC, when the publisher will be the host to an X Space that is titled “The Future of Games: Ep 18 - We Bought an MMO”. This will be a 60-minute roundtable discussion talking about their new MMO acquisition, web3 gaming, the creator economy, and more. Next to the publishing company, the listed speakers also seem to include the BattleRise team (which the publisher also owns), the ArmourX team (also owned by the publisher), Open Loot’s @bigtimethomas, and Kronicles member and Oasys ambassador @callmekodak0.

About Triumph Games
Triumph Games is a game developer and publisher focused on delivering web3-powered free to play games that can be enjoyed as web2 titles. Their focus is on offering gamers with the traditional F2P experience while also including the ability to have player-owned collectibles, giving players true asset ownership to allow them to use the items they earn as they see fit. Next to integrating on-chain assets into their games, the company also looks to provide gamers with leaderboard-based rewards to earn across their titles.
Not only are they a publisher for games blending web2 and web3 elements, but they’re also a blockchain gaming studio looking to create unique new games for gamers to enjoy. The studio’s debut title is BattleRise, a turn-based fantasy RPG that’s available for free on Android and iOS through the Play Store and App Store respectively. It’s also a multi-chain title that joined the Beam Network back in February this year.
The team also provides various end-to-end services to their clients, including game development, NFT development, game art & design, marketing solutions, and strategic advising. Their founders are said to have launched more than 20 games since 1998, and their current company consists of over 30 developers who are experts in Unity, Unreal, software, and blockchain.
Aside from developing and maintaining BattleRise, the team now has 2 web3 games they’re looking to publish and help bring to a wider gaming audience: ArmourX and Legends of Elumia.
ArmourX is a third-person action RPG and looter shooter that is set in a futuristic setting and is soon entering closed beta following an early access HyperPlay release in December 2024. Legends of Elumia is a fantasy MMORPG that’s been around since 2022 and has recently migrated to the Ronin network. It’s been playable on Windows PCs for Genesis NFT holders, while a mobile version was announced in December 2024 to be coming soon.
