Character NFT System Arrives in Legend of YMIR
The Norse mythology MMORPG Legend of YMIR will roll out its Character NFT system in a scheduled update on May 19, opening a new player-to-player trading layer built around fully developed characters. The update lands after maintenance set for 8:00 Japan Time on Tuesday, May 19, across the Asia and Steam servers.
The new system lets players convert their nurtured in-game characters into tradable NFTs. Once minted, those Character NFTs can be bought and sold through the WEMIX PLAY Marketplace, one of the largest blockchain gaming platforms in operation. The marketplace supports both auctions and direct price offers between players, giving sellers two routes to move a character.
Minting, sealing, and trading on the market all become possible with this patch. Developer Wemade framed the feature as the point where a player's time and effort in growing a character is recognized as something with real value. Minted characters remain fully playable right up until they are sealed for trading, so listing a character does not force a player out of the game.
There is a key step for buyers. A purchased Character NFT must be unsealed in-game before it can be used. The Unseal process converts the NFT into a usable in-game asset, and once it is done, the character becomes bound to the account that performed the unsealing. After unsealing, that character can no longer be resealed or returned to the marketplace, so the studio is advising players to proceed carefully.
How the NFT and Wallet Flow Works
Legend of YMIR's blockchain layer runs through WEMIX PLAY, the platform's wallet and marketplace ecosystem. To use any NFT in the game, players connect their WEMIX PLAY Wallet to their game account, with each wallet able to link to only one account. The connection is completed by scanning a QR code in the WEMIX PLAY App.
Players should note that the wallet link becomes permanent once any TOKEN feature is used. Functions such as Token Minting, NFT Unsealing, the Station, or the Coin Bag will lock the connected wallet, after which it cannot be disconnected or swapped. Before using those features, a player can still change the wallet through a Reconnect Wallet option. The Unseal action itself requires two signatures to complete.
The Character NFT system builds on Wemade's earlier blockchain titles. The studio first introduced a Character NFT model in NIGHT CROWS, following its play-and-earn debut with MIR4 in 2021. Legend of YMIR carries that lineage forward with what Wemade calls second-generation tokenomics, designed around long-term participation rather than short-term grinding.
Transcendence System and Clan Annihilation Battle
The May 19 update is not limited to NFTs. A new Transcendence System will be added as the ultimate stage of summon growth. Players will be able to transcend a summon up to 3 stages by using duplicate summons as materials, earning powerful perks along the way. Those perks include skill enhancements and treasure slot unlocks. Reaching Transcendence Stage 3 will grant an exclusive title and special effects, giving high-investment players a visible status marker.
The patch also introduces the Clan Annihilation Battle, a recurring competitive mode that runs every Wednesday. In it, clans fight for pride by defeating rival clans, occupying towers to earn points, and taking down bounty targets to steal points from opponents. The mode is built around momentum swings, with the studio highlighting the thrill of a comeback as a core part of the design.
These additions follow a steady update cadence. Wemade detailed earlier in May that the game's roadmap covers a Mastery System, the Character NFT update, the Transcendence System, a Buff Guarding Tower System, a permanent Hall of Cooperation mode, and a Nightmare Mode for Expeditions, all to be added in sequence.
Inside Legend of YMIR: A Norse MMORPG Built on Unreal Engine 5
Legend of YMIR is a fantasy MMORPG developed by Wemade, set in a world thrown into chaos after the fall of the gods and shaped by the looming apocalypse of Ragnarok. Built with Unreal Engine 5, the onchain title delivers hyper-realistic visuals and precision-based combat across five distinct classes: Berserker, Warlord, Skald, Völva, and Archer. Each class offers a different playstyle, and while auto-combat exists as a convenience feature for character growth, the core gameplay rewards timing and reaction. Companions such as birds and mounts add layers to navigation and combat, alongside crafting and resource management.
The web3 title launched globally on PC and mobile through iOS and Android in late October 2025, following a successful Web2 release in South Korea. The game later arrived on Steam, expanding its reach further. A defining structural feature is its open server system, where worlds expand and contract based on player population, keeping towns and battlegrounds populated rather than empty.
Blockchain integration sits at the center of the experience. The global version uses G-WEMIX, a token earned through inter-server content such as the Hall of Gold, expeditions, and contested battlegrounds. G-WEMIX can be exchanged at a 1:1 ratio with the WEMIX token, connecting in-game effort to a broader crypto economy. To stabilize that economy, Wemade established a WEMIX reserve pool valued at around 7.5 million USD, intended to protect the in-game token system from volatility. Onchain ownership in the game has focused on cosmetics, items, and trading rather than raw stat advantages, and competitive server content can deliver WEMIX rewards to winners.
The game has been busy through 2026. A 200-Day Update went live on May 6, bundling a server merge, large-scale server transfers, and the first wave of the Character NFT rollout, along with appreciation gifts sent to all players. On May 7, a new clan-based raid battlefield called Sindri's Lost Treasure Island arrived, spreading competition across five islands of varying sizes where clans gather resources and defeat monsters to reach a 100% point threshold. Earlier in the year, the March 10 update launched the YMIR League, a competitive system that matches servers of similar strength across promotion and relegation brackets.
WEMIX PLAY itself hosts a deep catalog. The platform carries more than 35 blockchain-powered games and integrates NFTs, tokenomics, payment systems, webshops, an NFT marketplace, and community features into a single ecosystem. Wemade, the studio behind Legend of YMIR, has built its blockchain titles on its proprietary Layer-1 mainnet, WEMIX3.0, with a portfolio that also includes The Legend of Mir, MIR4, and NIGHT CROWS.
On the competitive side, Wemade held the first YMIR Cup World Championship in Singapore earlier in 2026, a tournament built on the game's Server War content that featured large-scale battles with up to 1,200 participants. The second YMIR Cup World Championship is planned for June, with a greater emphasis on character control, strategy, and teamwork.
With the Character NFT system live after the May 19 maintenance, players who have spent months developing their warriors gain a direct route to turn that progress into tradable, marketable assets across the WEMIX PLAY ecosystem.
