Kintara has launched minigames, adding two formats that players can enter for free or with gold on the line. The feature went live on September 4, 2026 and is currently in beta.
Arena Deathmatch and Falling Tiles are the two modes available at launch. Wagered lobbies run winner takes all, meaning the entire pot goes to a single player rather than being split across placements.
How the Wagering Works
The lobby interface shows the economics clearly. A sample four player Arena lobby charges 10 gold per player as entry, collecting 40 gold in total. A 5 percent fee is taken from that pot, leaving 38 gold paid out to the winner.
That fee structure is the part worth noting. At 5 percent, the house cut is modest enough that skilled players can profit consistently while still creating a sink that removes gold from circulation. In a game where gold is earned through fishing, mining, harvesting, quests, and arena victories, having a mechanism that removes it matters as much as having ones that create it.
Free lobbies run alongside the wagered ones. That separation lets players learn a mode before putting anything at risk, which is important when the format is new and neither Arena Deathmatch nor Falling Tiles has an established meta yet.
The lobby system supports browsing existing games, creating new ones, and filtering by mode, with tabs covering all games, arena, and tiles, plus history and leaderboard views.
Two Different Kinds of Competition
Arena Deathmatch is the combat mode, putting players against each other directly using the melee system that already runs across Kintara's wilderness zones.
Falling Tiles is the outlier. It moves away from combat entirely, which broadens who can compete. A player who has not invested in gear or levels can still win a tiles match, meaning the wagering layer is not exclusively available to established accounts.
That balance matters for a game where progression gates most content. Minigames create a space where a new player and a veteran can meet on comparable terms, and the free lobbies mean trying it costs nothing but time.
The studio has confirmed this is only the starting point. More modes, bigger competition, and prize pools for top players are all listed as coming soon, which points at minigames becoming a competitive track in their own right rather than a side feature.
Landing Alongside Guild Seasons
The timing puts two competitive systems in the game at once. Guild Seasons Season 1 opened on September 1 at 22:00 UTC and runs through September 30, with every qualifying mob, boss, and player versus player kill feeding a guild's season score with no caps applied.
Those two systems reward different things. Guild Seasons pays off sustained coordinated effort across a month, while minigames resolve in a single match. A player can contribute to a guild's score during the day and wager gold in a tiles lobby afterward without the two competing for the same time.
Inside Kintara
Kintara is a free browser based isometric MMO on Solana that launched on May 22, 2026, drawing frequent comparisons to RuneScape. It requires no download, and players start by connecting a Solana wallet holding at least 1 KINS token.
The core loop covers gathering wood and stone, fishing, mining, fighting monsters, crafting, cooking, building, and completing daily quests that pay gold and experience. The Armory offers a place to practise combat before heading somewhere dangerous.
The world runs across connected realms reached through portals with no loading screens. Mainland is the safe hub holding the bank, shops, and healing fountain. Whisperwood covers peaceful fishing and lets each player build one personal shack. The Pond offers calm fishing with cooking facilities. Wilderness zones hold tougher enemies and enabled PvP, where death drops carried items into a tombstone, making the bank in Mainland a genuine decision point before every trip out.
Gold handles everyday trade and cosmetics, and now serves as the wagering currency in minigames. The Marketplace enables direct player to player trading, including swaps between gold and KINS. One marketplace day produced 54,000 USD in player to player transactions.
KINS runs on Solana with a circulating supply of 1 billion tokens, gating access, powering marketplace functions, and covering premium spins priced around 3 USD, with half of spin fees burned and half sent to the treasury. Holding 1,000 KINS unlocks full feature access.
The game reached 20,540 monthly active players by June 2026 with concurrent users peaking between 800 and 1,300. Version 3.6 added apartments, banking systems, and merchant cycles. In August, Kintara arrived on the Solana dApp Store, putting it in front of Solana Mobile's Seeker audience, where every user already holds a configured wallet before opening the game.
Minigames are live now in beta, and free lobbies are open to anyone.
