Kamigotchi, a fully onchain idle-MMORPG blending strategy, pet-raising, and player versus player (PVP) mechanics, has raised $1.3 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Seed Club, with participation from TempleDAO, DCFGod, and other investors committed to advancing Web3-native gaming experiences.

The announcement was made via Kamigotchi’s official X account on March 17. According to the team, the funding will be used to expand the development of the game’s unique onchain economy, refine gameplay mechanics, and prepare for the upcoming mainnet launch.

A Fully Onchain Game with Strategic Layers

Kamigotchi is designed as an idle massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) where every player action is recorded and executed on-chain. The game combines classic pet-raising elements with strategic progression and competitive PVP battles. Players can breed, train, and evolve digital creatures known as “Kamis,” and each decision made impacts their Kami’s development and position in the game’s economy.

Unlike traditional idle games where player data and logic are stored off-chain, Kamigotchi executes all logic on-chain, offering complete transparency, verifiable scarcity, and composability.

Economic and Social Design

At the core of Kamigotchi’s gameplay is a fully on-chain economy where player actions directly contribute to resource flows and in-game governance. Reputation systems, PvP leaderboards, and item crafting all contribute to the player’s status within the world. Strategic decision-making, such as when and how to raise your Kamis or engage in battles, will be key to long-term progression.

NFT Mint and Whitelist Access Through Playtest

In preparation for its mainnet release, Kamigotchi has launched a playtest version accessible at playtest.kamigotchi.io. Players who achieve 200 in-game reputation points during the test phase will be eligible for the upcoming NFT mint whitelist.

These NFTs are expected to represent key in-game assets and may provide long-term utility or rewards once the game goes live on mainnet.

Seed Club and Backers Signal Confidence in Onchain Gaming

Seed Club, a leading accelerator and DAO in the social and crypto space, has previously supported a range of web3 projects focused on community and protocol design. Their backing of Kamigotchi suggests a growing interest in games that go beyond token incentives, focusing instead on engaging and sustainable on-chain mechanics.

TempleDAO and other participating investors have also been active in supporting projects that explore novel tokenomics and decentralized ecosystems.

While no exact date for the mainnet release has been announced, Kamigotchi’s latest update signals that the project is nearing its next major milestone. With funding secured, a working playtest environment, and growing social interest, Kamigotchi is poised to enter the blockchain gaming space with a distinct offering that merges nostalgia, strategic depth, and modern web3 infrastructure.

Players and enthusiasts can follow Kamigotchi’s updates via its official X account or participate in the playtest to secure a spot in the upcoming NFT mint. As the mainnet launch approaches, the team continues to iterate on feedback and optimize the in-game economy to support long-term player engagement.
