Kaidro is closing the current chapter of its web3 experience, ending its Play to Airdrop programme alongside Synergy, the Spin Wheel, and KDR staking on September 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM PST. The studio described the date as an evolution point rather than an ending.
The Play to Airdrop experience ran for 25 months, and the team used the announcement to thank the community members who took part in building it.
The Final Airdrop and What Comes With It
A third and final KDR airdrop from the initial distribution phase goes out on September 4 at 9:00 AM. The snapshot determining eligibility was already taken on August 30, 2026 at 10:00 AM PST, so nothing done after that date affects an allocation. Details on eligibility and claiming will be published separately.
Staking closes on the same day. New stakes will no longer be available and auto restaking is being disabled, but existing stakes remain accessible. The Unstake button stays visible on active stakes and staking history remains available on the staking page.
The deadline is December 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST. Anyone with staked KDR has until then to unstake and claim.
The payout rules depend on timing. A stake that has reached its claimable point returns the original KDR plus the applicable reward. Unstaking before that point returns only the original KDR with no staking reward attached. Physical rewards are being fulfilled gradually, and pending NFT rewards will be converted to KDR based on the token's value as of September 4, 2026.
The Token Is Not Going Anywhere
The studio was explicit that this transition covers the current Spin Wheel, staking, and Synergy experiences only, and does not mean the end of KDR or Kaidro's web3 journey.
KDR allocations will continue to be set aside for the community and distributed through future opportunities connected to the game and other Kaidro media. The stated intent is for the token to become part of experiences that fit naturally within the wider world being built rather than existing as a standalone reward mechanism.
That framing is a meaningful shift for a project whose token layer has been driven by participation rewards. Play to Airdrop programmes generate activity by paying for it, and closing one without replacing it with an equivalent means the next phase has to hold players through the game itself.
What Kaidro Is Building Instead
Development continues on Kaidro: Clan Battles, an RPG and shooter hybrid from US studio Gadget-Bot built on the Ronin network. The game runs strategic 3v3 battles around customisable Spark Suits, with players choosing a clan, assembling armour configurations across light and heavy chassis, and drawing on astral powers tied to Spirit Guardians. Weapons are crafted by in game Unions.
Spark Suits function as the foundational NFTs of the ecosystem, traded on the Sky Mavis marketplace. The game is available on Steam and currently running its fourth Open Alpha.
The wider universe extends well beyond the game. Kaidro began as the webtoon Kaidro: The Awakening, and the studio is progressing hardcover books and working with publishing partners to expand the property. Creator's Prism and the Creators Vlogs give the community a view into the people and process behind the work, with a recent Creator's Prism episode featuring Ben Procter.
Recent milestones cited by the studio include Deadline coverage and a presence at San Diego Comic Con, both of which point at a strategy centred on the intellectual property rather than the token economy.
KDR itself launched on December 18, 2024 on Ronin, trading through Katana DEX, with 35 percent of total supply allocated to community rewards covering play to airdrop events and tournament prizes. The launch was accompanied by a cinematic trailer made with electronic music duo Odesza, featuring community owned NFTs from the universe.
A Project That Has Pivoted Before
Kaidro has been building publicly since 2019, and the studio acknowledged directly that it has gone through many milestones, pivots, and periods of growth, with some plans evolving over time.
That candour is notable in a sector where studios more often quietly retire features than announce their closure with a timeline and an unstaking window. The 25 month Play to Airdrop run gets an explicit end date, the final snapshot was published, and stakers have nearly four months to withdraw.
The studio closed its update with a line aimed squarely at holders watching other projects wind down entirely: we're still here, we're still building.
