As of April 3rd, Illuvium has officially brought back $ILV rewards across its growing list of game modes. This marks a major milestone for the web3 title, following a full revamp of its in-game economy, systems, and gameplay with the Unified Fuel system. The update didn't just introduce a new economic layer. It also restored Overworld runs, upgraded the Arena Gauntlet, and added brand new ways for players to compete and earn.

What is the Illuvium Unified Fuel System all about?

The Unified Fuel system replaces the old fuel types—Crypton, Hyperion, and Solon—with one simplified Fuel that's now used across most Illuvium games. Sold at a fixed price of $0.01 by the DAO, this unified currency makes it easier for players to plan spending, while also protecting the in-game economy from price swings. The update also includes a change for landholders in Illuvium Zero, who will now earn ETH payouts based on how much Fuel they burn, relative to the rest of the player base. All previous Fuel balances were now migrated, with conversion ratios set to ensure fair buying power across the board.

Before these upgrades could go live, the team paused Overworld Runs and shut down the Fuel Exchange across all modes on February 28th. This allowed for a key testing phase on the Sepolia Testnet, where the team could stress-test the new systems and gather player feedback. While Arena remained live, Overworld gameplay was offline for a full month—until March 28th, when patch v1.8.0.c dropped and restored Overworld access, now fully powered by the Unified Fuel system.

$ILV Rewards Return with New Earning Options

With the infrastructure in place, April 3rd marked the official return of $ILV rewards. Now in Week 2, players can earn $ILV through various in-game activities. The Arena's Ranked Gauntlet mode now pays out 200 ILV each week to the top 100 players, while the Overworld and ADR Bounty Hunt Leaderboard offers another 200 ILV for skilled Illuvial hunters. Those competing in Gauntlet matches can also earn Fuel as bonus drops, with the top four finishers in a match eligible for a 30% chance at scoring Fuel—assuming they meet a set of gameplay requirements like reaching Round 16 and maintaining a rating above 1200.

Raffles Add a New Layer of Competition

Illuvium has also added a new raffle system tied to Ranked Gauntlet performance. Players who finish in the top six of a qualifying match (and don't surrender) earn a raffle ticket. Every two weeks, five winners are randomly selected to split a 200 ILV prize pool. The reward tiers range from 100 ILV for first place to 10 ILV for fifth. To ensure fairness and prevent multi-account farming, the raffle uses a "Quadratic Correction System," where keeping all your tickets on one account increases your odds of winning.

Automated Drone Runs (ADR) Enhance Overworld Play

The return of rewards also coincides with the live launch of Automated Drone Runs in the Overworld. These let players instantly collect batches of Illuvials without roaming the map. ADR supports both quick collection and high-tier hunts, depending on your strategy and budget. These drones feed directly into the Bounty Hunt Leaderboard, where the points you earn are based on the rarity and finish of the Illuvials you catch. Rare Holo or Dark Holo creatures offer a massive boost to your leaderboard score.

To help manage the growing pool of rewards, Illuvium is rolling out a new Rewards Dashboard. This tool will let players claim their ILV or Fuel earnings across all game modes and even choose the reward currency they prefer. Week 1 leaderboard snapshots were taken on April 9th, and payouts will begin rolling out shortly through this system.

As of now, the price of $ILV sits around $11.78. That means each weekly leaderboard pool is worth nearly $2,356, with extra earnings available through the bi-weekly raffle and daily Fuel Drops. If you're climbing the ranks consistently, these rewards can stack fast.

How to Play and Earn?

Getting started is simple. The game is free to play and available through the Epic Games Store. New players can sign up using Immutable Passport and jump straight into Arena Ranked matches or Overworld Drone Runs to begin competing. With every Thursday marking a leaderboard reset, players have weekly chances to push their rank and claim rewards.

What's Next for Illuvium?

Looking ahead, Illuvium is planning even more additions. A Leviathan Gauntlet leaderboard is on the way, catering to high-stakes competitive players. The Illuvium Zero leaderboard is also set to go live soon, offering 100 ILV weekly for the top land managers. The long-awaited Battle Pass system will launch within two months, offering cosmetic items, tournament access, and bonus rewards.

The Illuvium team is also hosting a Town Hall today, April 10th, 20:00 UTC, featuring co-founder Kieran Warwick and co-game directors Trevor and Steven. They'll be previewing what's next for the MMO-lite version of Overworld, including multiplayer features, breach combat, and new ranger gear systems.
