Competitive basketball game Rumble Kong League has officially soft launched on mobile for Android and iOS, and you can download it right now for free through the Play Store and App Store to play and earn your way to an airdrop of the upcoming $FAME token. Here’s how you can start out for free!

How to Play to Airdrop in Rumble Kong League

In this free to play blockchain game, players get to play to airdrop by participating in Leagues, which represent the game’s new dynamic ranking system through which you can earn $FAME. There are 4 different Leagues you can progress through: The Noobs League, The Underdogs League, The Chads League, and The Sigma League.

Ranking your way through the first 3 leagues can earn you about 8000 $FAME tokens. You simply need to earn enough points from winning ranked matches to rank up. For this soft launch, you can’t get demoted, so you don’t need to worry about getting deranked. The Sigma League is also the only league that actually resets completely every 3 days, giving new players a chance to compete for better token airdrops. The higher the league you’re in and the better your ranking in that division, the more $FAME you get to earn. In the future, you’ll need to be in the top 10% of a league to get promoted.

You will want to hoop your way over to the best league that is the Sigma League, as this is where you can get a lot of $FAME tokens. Specifically, the Sigma League has a total prize pool of 300,000 $FAME, with 50,000 $FAME tokens up for grabs every 3 days for the winner, while the top 1000 players have token rewards distributed in the following way:

  • 1st: 50,000 $FAME
  • 2nd/3rd: 20,000 $FAME
  • 4th-10th: 8,000 $FAME
  • 11th-30th: 4,000 $FAME
  • 31st-100th: 1,000 $FAME
  • 101st-1000th: 100 $FAME

The numbers apply per position, so if you finish in 50th place during the 3-day period, you will be rewarded with 1000 $FAME tokens.

Whenever you win a competitive 3v3 match of fast-paced basketball, you will earn 40 Rank Points (RP). You also get bonus RP depending on the score difference at the end of the match.

To play in a League, you need League Tickets. Every match played in a League uses up one League Ticket. All new players get free League Tickets to kickstart their competitive journey, and you might be given more later on as you play. To acquire more League Tickets, you can complete in-game quests, open Rumble Pass Boxes, spin the Daily Wheel, and buy them as an in-app purchase through the game’s official in-game store, which may have free tickets available to take as well.

Boxes or Chests can be attained from the Rumble Pass. The Rumble Pass is a seasonal progression system that includes various rewards. For this soft launch, the Rumble Pass contains exclusive branded prizes introduced thanks to the game’s partnership with basketball brand Slam. You can get a new reward every 9 wins, unlocking all prizes by reaching 72 victories during this season. These wins are for Casual, non-ranked games. There are also daily Slam Loot Chests that you can claim every 24 hours. You can find them in the Daily Gifts section of the main menu, and even claim them retroactively.

Next to ranking in Leagues, $FAME can be earned from certain in-game quests, as well as by spinning the Daily Wheel, purchasing Pro Bags, and becoming a part of a Community Squad. Pro Bags are bought using Rumble Credits and Rumble Tech, with the former earned from ranking in Leagues and opening chests, while the latter is gained when recycling Playstyles. By joining a Community Squad through the Friends section, you get a free Slam Chest and potentially a boost to your $FAME earnings.

Before playing a match in Rumble Kong League, you can use the Setup menu from the main screen to adjust your own team of 3 basketball players referred to as Kongs. Select Kongs from your inventory and put them in the position of your choice while also adding your preferred Playstyle to each Kong and equipping the team with 2 Special Actions. You can choose from Attack and Defense Special Actions such as a Tackle ability that stuns your opponent, or a Super Dunk for a gratifying slam dunk that actually awards 3 points. Playstyles boost Kong stats and you have a chance of getting different tiers of Playstyles by getting Bags, participating in special events, and attaining certain achievements.

In this game, each playable Kong differs in 4 stats: Shooting, Defense, Finish, and Vision. That being said, these stats can significantly matter as you rank up to stronger Leagues and face tougher, more skilled players. While you do get 6 free Kongs with varying stats to set up your team with, those who want to dominate in the Sigma League will want to both be skilled and have strong Kongs. This means that buying Kong NFTs can put you at an advantage in getting top leaderboard spots in the Sigma League, as they come with better stats.

To play with Kong NFTs, log in to the game’s official website using the same in-game account, and then connect your crypto wallet holding the NFTs. By playing the game with an account connected to a wallet holding at least one Kong NFT, you get to unlock exclusive quests. Next to NFT-gated quests and better stats, holding a Kong NFT also gets you an airdrop allocation of $FAME tokens at TGE.

You can buy Kong NFTs over at OpenSea and Magic Eden, as well as on the game’s official marketplace, though it seems you have to make offers there as no one has set a specific price at the time of writing. The collection is on the Ethereum network across all marketplaces, and both of the secondary markets currently have a floor price of 0.239 $ETH.

What Is the $FAME Token?

The $FAME token is designed to power not only Rumble Kong League, but also its own ecosystem representing digital sports culture: the FAME Network. Through the token, the developers aim to encourage competition and reward fans for their success, while also connecting them with their favorite brands and athletes through a blockchain network layer focused on sports. That said, you can look forward to a virtual multi-sport social hub called Athlos City, in which you’ll be able to walk around in third-person view as a Kong and experience a world shared by various sports IPs. You can already unlock it and explore a little bit, but a lot more is to come in the future.

The token and the game are backed by all-star NBA players Stephen Curry and Paul George, as well as notable brands that include Under Armour, Gatorade, Slam, and more. This sports-focused ecosystem is also backed by prominent web3 gaming names, including The Sandbox and Animoca Brands.

The TGE could take place at the end of January 2025. Learn more about the $FAME token on its official website.
