Skrice Studios, the developers of Heroes of Mavia, a mobile blockchain base builder, have officially published the gameplay release trailer ahead of the Web3 title’s global launch in January 2024.
This short under 30-seconds teaser trailer gives a glimpse of what you can expect to experience when playing what is described on the official website as the “first AAA” blockchain base builder game.
Coupled with cinematic animation displaying the excitement and joy of playing and winning a successful raid, anyone familiar with Clash of Clans will likely feel very much at home with this crypto game, which combines the base-building, strategic defending and attacking gameplay with blockchain technology. By doing so, players are rewarded for their success with in-game resources and an in-game currency called Ruby, which will have its own official in-game Ruby Marketplace where you can trade NFTs from the game without paying any gas fees, using an in-app purchase currency called Sapphire instead. The Vietnamese studio uses a dual market system in accordance with Google and Apple’s guidelines, meaning if you want to trade the assets for real-world value, you’ll have the option to trade outside the game itself by using the Mavia Web NFT marketplace or any other similar platform. All of this is a part of the company’s “Mass Ownership” Ruby model, their new Web3 gaming model that aims to tackle the issues that occurred in previous play-to-earn games while complying with app store requirements.
Various actions in the game are rewarded with Ruby. These include successfully defending your base, winning raids using a selection of more than 12 different infantry, vehicle and air units while completing various challenges and more. Anyone will be able to earn Ruby, regardless of whether they own NFTs or are a free-to-play player. Next to trading NFTs referred to as “Legendary Items” players can also use the same currency to craft those items. These assets include land decorations, cosmetics, skins, statues, and a special subgroup called “Legendary Consumables.” The consumables have a one-time use.
As of writing, aside from the specified month, there is no accurate launch date for the global release currently available, but it likely won’t be long until a new announcement regarding that comes out. The game will be available as a free-to-play title on both Android and iOS devices via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store respectively sometime during January 2024.
