Gunzilla Games has announced that its GUN token is now officially compliant with the European Union's new Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). This makes GUN the first gaming-focused digital asset to be approved under the EU's wide-reaching crypto law.

Legal Compliance Opens EU Market for GUN

The company worked with global law firm Dentons to complete the legal process. Thanks to this, the GUN token is now cleared for listing and trading on licensed crypto platforms across Europe.

Gunzilla shared the news on X: "We now have a fully EU-compliant digital asset that will be legally tradeable across various European platforms. Not as a security, but as a utility token."

This means the GUN token can now be used more freely in all EU member countries. Its legal status as a utility token removes the usual regulatory barriers and gives the company clearer paths to scale.

What Is MiCAR and Why It Matters

MiCAR is the EU's first full framework for regulating digital assets. It replaces older national rules like the VASP regime and brings all EU countries under one set of standards. MiCAR covers everything from token issuance and custody to trading and consumer protection.

Under the new law, all previous VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) registrations are being replaced by a new title: CASP, which stands for Crypto-Asset Service Provider. CASPs must go through a full authorization process to operate within the EU.

Gunzilla's MiCAR compliance means its token is now authorized as a utility token. This gives GUN what's known as passporting rights. With this, the token can be offered throughout the EU with a single license, removing the need to apply country-by-country.

The company put it simply: "GUN Token's compliance demonstrates full legal alignment under MiCAR. Regulatory clarity establishes GUN as a utility token, NOT a security, enabling broad adoption without legal uncertainty."

What This Means for Gunzilla and GUNZ

According to the team, this milestone comes with several key benefits for its platform and the wider GUNZ ecosystem:

  • Accessibility: Players and users in Europe will now be able to trade the GUN token legally on platforms approved under MiCAR.
  • Institutional Comfort: Regulatory clarity will make it easier for companies and funds to work with Gunzilla and GUNZ without facing complex legal hurdles.
  • Risk Reduction: Operating under MiCAR lowers legal risk by giving clear rules for use and trading.
  • Utility Confirmed: The token is now recognized as a utility token, not a security, which supports its use in gameplay and in-game systems.
  • First-Mover Advantage: As the first gaming token approved under MiCAR, GUN holds a strong position in both the gaming and crypto markets.
  • Expansion Support: Future projects built on the GUNZ chain will be able to use the same regulatory framework already approved for GUN.

Dentons' Role in the Approval

Dentons, the world’s largest law firm by headcount, advised Gunzilla's parent company, Poseidon 133 PTE. LTD, throughout the process. The firm helped with whitepaper drafts, legal filings, and discussions with EU regulators.

Gunzilla noted Dentons' involvement as key to the success of the approval: "Dentons' involvement underscores the rigorous standards and credibility of the approval, positioning GUN as a compliant and trustworthy asset within the EU market."

A Word from the CEO

Vlad Korolov, CEO of Gunzilla Games, called the approval a major moment for the company's long-term plans:

"Achieving MiCAR compliance is more than a regulatory milestone — it's a defining moment for Gunzilla and the GUNZ ecosystem. By becoming the first gaming token approved under the EU's new framework, we've not only secured regulatory clarity but also set a precedent for how web3 and gaming can thrive together in a compliant environment. This approval paves the way for millions of players and partners across Europe to engage with GUN as a true utility token at the heart of our ecosystem. It's a major step toward realizing our vision of building the premier web3-native, AAA gaming chain."

Mainnet Expansion and Migration Plans

Gunzilla confirmed that a full mainnet rollout will begin across Europe this September. As part of this, player accounts and in-game assets will be moved over from the testnet to the fully compliant GUNZ mainnet.

This change means players in Europe will soon be able to use GUN tokens onchain within Off The Grid (OTG), Gunzilla's flagship cyberpunk battle royale game.

Recent Growth of the GUNZ Ecosystem

The MiCAR milestone follows a summer of growth for the GUNZ platform.

In July, Off The Grid officially launched on Steam. This brought the game's PvP and trading features to the world's largest PC gaming platform. At the same time, the GUN token went live on Solana, giving players access to DeFi tools like Phantom and Solflare wallets, along with protocols such as Kamino, Orca, and Jupiter.

This multichain push was backed by a 15 million GUN liquidity campaign on Kamino, worth about $400,000 in token rewards.

Gunzilla also launched a storefront on OpenSea, where OTG assets became available for public trading. A rare Tacoma Gun sold for 55,000 GUN within the first day of launch.

The platform hit over 27.8 million GUN in trading volume in July alone. Listings on the marketplace passed 250,000, and in-game item decoding activity jumped by over 120%.

Off The Grid's mobile companion app also saw strong adoption, crossing 500,000 unique users. The app is designed to improve in-game comms, squad coordination, and ecosystem access. It plays a key role in supporting the player base, helping users to stay connected while on the go.

Players Can Join Off The Grid in Avalanche Battle Pass Season 2

Gunzilla also confirmed that Off The Grid is part of Avalanche Battle Pass Season 2, which is now live with more than $25,000 in total rewards.

Players can join by signing up at Playfull.com, connecting their wallet, and starting missions that reward both in-game points and raffle entries. The battle pass includes both free and premium tiers. While the Basic Pass is free for everyone, a Premium Pass unlocks additional items and collectible NFTs.

OTG joins other Avalanche-based titles like Spellborne and DeFi Kingdoms in the mission pool. Players can complete gameplay tasks and social challenges to earn Snowflakes, which act as entries in the end-of-season raffle.

The battle pass runs for 30 days. At the end, players can win AVAX tokens, game NFTs, and even physical prizes like Pokémon cards. A new salvage system also lets players swap out unwanted rewards for Playpoints, which can be used in the AVAX Shop.

With this inclusion, OTG gains wider exposure through the Avalanche ecosystem while rewarding players with exclusive content and onchain rewards.
