Gods Unchained Warning for Sales Scams

Gods Unchained Warning for Sales Scams

The creators of trading card game Gods Unchained have warned their community about card auctions and sales scams through off-chain platforms. On their Twitter account they warned for several cards and trinkets up for sale outside of the Ethereum network. These scams often promise delivery after they have received the payment. The developers underline that the potential for fraud is high.

Game studio Immutable is referring to marketplaces like eBay and Craigslist, but also to payment services like Paypal. They advise users to only use Ethereum marketplaces, like for example their own marketplace, Opensea, GUCardsPlay or TokenTrove.

“Transactions through exchanges that are connected to the network natively are less likely to cause problems. […] These transactions are backed by the enforcement mechanisms of the Ethereum network.”

Gods Unchained – Twitter (June 24th 2020)

We don’t know whether the Gods Unchained scams tricked people into spending their money. However, it’s better to warn people beforehand then having to deal with the mess later.

Making it easier for beginners

The warning comes days after Immutable introduced the Welcome Set to players of Gods Unchained. The Welcome Set is a pack of cards that every players can use, but can’t trade. These cards will always change based on the meta of the game. Through the Welcome Set players can learn the gameplay of Gods Unchained. While playing they will be able to earn card packs, flux and eventually mint cards on the blockchain that can be traded, sold or leveled up.

In addition avid Gods Unchained players are anticipating the launch of the first season, dubbed Trial of the Gods. This set will come with a new one-of-a-kind mythic card called Citadel of the Gods. The developers will give this card away as a part of a raffle, with players gathering raffle tokens by buying packs. Collectors have paid well over thirty thousand dollars for previous mythic cards for Gods Unchained.

What is Gods Unchained?

Gods Unchained is a collectible card game built on the Ethereum blockchain. The game stores ownership over tokenized cards on the blockchain, giving players full ownership. Players earn digital cards for playing the game, when they have two identical cards these can be minted into one blockchain-based card. Users can trade, sell, lend, or borrow these cards.

Trial of the Gods will launch within a few weeks. The expansion will be an update for the game. The Genesis season already sparked lots of interest. In December a collector bough an one-of-a-kind card for 31 thousand dollars (210 ETH). Future game mechanics will allow users to create limited edition cards from older cards, making existing cards more rare.
