The official Gods Unchained Twitter account announced the sale of Mythic card "Citadel of the Gods" for 42 ETH ($76,000) bought up by GU NFT whale StrongHands. This has now become the most expensive card sale in the game's history. Before this, the most expensive sale was in 2019 for 137.8 Ether ($62,000 USD at the time) for Hyperion, the game's first Mythic card.
Mythic cards are exceptionally rare and one-of-a-kind, each GU card has a 1:1,000,000 chance of being a Mythic rarity. There are only six Mythic cards in the game (with a seventh in the new Mortal Judgement expansion). These include Hyperion, Atlas, Prometheus, Tethys, Temnys of Thebia, and Citadel of Gods.
Mythic cards have a significant impact on the game, allowing the possessing player to customize their deck to the alternate gameplay and create a tremendous advantage. They also offer entertaining and unique mechanisms that enable an entirely new game style, which is basically a unique mini-game mode for both competing players.
The following are the card effects for Citadel of Gods:
"At the start of the game, move this card to the top of your deck. Each player summons three legendary champions, equips a champion’s relic, and unlocks all mana locks. Both gods gain protected and ward.".
In general, the rarities of non-Mythic GU cards are Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary, with rarity color designations such as COMMON being gray, RARE being blue, EPIC being purple, and LEGENDARY being gold.
Gods Unchained is a free-to-play tactical card game that offers a variety of Play-to-Earn opportunities, including the $GODS token and weekly tournaments with incentives.
