Gods Unchained Is Migrating to Immutable zkEVM

The developers of Gods Unchained have officially announced that they are migrating their free to play TCG over from Immutable X to Immutable zkEVM.

How Do Gods Unchained Players Benefit from the Migration to Immutable zkEVM?

The migration to Immutable zkEVM is said to mark a “monumental achievement” that will place the web3 game into a “thriving realm of some of the most successful web3 games” and allow players to enjoy “the best that web3 gaming has to offer,” according to the official announcement.

To make this transition easy for everyone, the team will handle the migration of all assets. This means all your NFT cards, trinkets, card backs, and boards will be migrated accordingly at some point this year. The chest migration from Ethereum to Immutable zkEVM will also happen as well. 

Players can look forward to a variety of benefits arising from this migration. The team is hoping to provide new ways for players to play the card game using their own assets, and may add in new features that let players trade multiple NFT cards in a single transaction instead of going one by one.

Next to potentially improving the card trading experience, the migration will mark the beginning of a new era of crafting, forging, and “rewards transparency.” Using blockchain-based automation, the team would like to bring more seamless gaming decentralization while enhancing interoperability by working with high-quality blockchain gaming projects on the same chain to deliver cross-game asset utility. By moving to this gaming chain, there are more opportunities for cross-collaboration efforts, so it will be interesting to see how NFT utility will expand as a result.

The developers will be able to make use of new smart contract capabilities that will allow them to simplify complex systems and provide stricter validation mechanisms to lower the chances of any errors happening while maintaining “the integrity of in-game assets.” Overall, assets are more likely to be secure and transactions will be settled instantly, so players can look forward to an even better and more seamless blockchain gaming experience.

Future Gods Unchained Migration Plans

The team has revealed various migration plans they’d like to achieve throughout the next few months. These upgrades to Gods Unchained include rekindled forging and crafting, new staking rewards, secondary pack trading, chest migration from Ethereum and Immutable zkEVM (not from Ethereum to Immutable X, only to zkEVM), the unveiling of the Eucos Emporium, reimagined pack opening, Passport access to holdings, and $GODS bridging.

The migration brings not only new staking rewards but also improved staking mechanics to allow the developers to more easily distribute rewards to stakers. Specifics on improved forging and crafting don’t seem to be mentioned, but some kind of upgrade to crafting mechanics is in the works and is made possible by the transition to Immutable zkEVM. The Eucos Emporium is said to be a “fresh take for a bustling ecosystem Store,” providing a more streamlined and immersive way to collect and open card packs. Holders of $GODS tokens on Immutable X can look forward to using a bridge to move their holdings over to zkEVM, with the bridge enabled thanks to the use of cross-chain liquidity routing protocols.
