Immutable’s free to play trading card game, Gods Unchained, is getting a new Sealed Mode event on December 3rd: The Bull Run, Part 1.
“The Bull Run" is the first event for Sealed Mode that introduces a couple of changes to freshen up the game mode and give blockchain gamers a fun play to earn experience.
The event introduces a new prize pool to earn rewards from while refreshing the card pool with new options to choose from and awarding bonus $GODS tokens if you get enough wins. You can build your deck from a selection of 60 cards, while the entry fee to this PvP game mode has been lowered to 5 $GODS (~$1.20) for the duration of this event. That’s half the regular ticket price, making this event a great time to compete in this mode.
Here are the updated rewards you can earn by going on a winning streak of up to 7 victories:
Assuming the bonus victory milestone is rewarded every time you enter this mode, you can recoup the ticket price in just 2 wins, and even profit by 0.75 $GODS. You can choose to end your run here early, or try and get a better streak. If you manage to get all the wins, that means that you will earn 47.75 $GODS tokens, which is a profit of 42.75 $GODS (~$10), plus all the NFT cards you’ll get from opening all those card packs.
The event begins on December 3rd, 2024, and ends on January 7th, 2025, after which Part 2 will launch. Next to this special event, you can also join Formats Season 2, which kicked off earlier this month.
Sealed Mode is a ranked game mode that launched in September 2023 to give players another way to compete for $GODS and card packs. The goal is to win 7 PvP matches in a row to get more rewards, but you can choose to end the run early if you don’t want to risk it. If you lose 3 times during your run, it’s game over. Each entry initially used to cost 15 $GODS, but that later changed to 10 $GODS.
Players can’t bring their own cards to this mode, but instead need to build a deck from a randomized card pool of 60 cards, thus rewarding skilled players. The mode will have you choose from one of 3 randomly-picked Gods, after which you pick cards from 3 randomly chosen domains. There are 12-20 random cards per domain, with at least 4 of them being spells.
When it comes to the event in particular, while it has been stated that the pool will still have 60 random cards, and the official announcement tweet mentioned a refreshed card pool though, details on other potential adjustments to the pool were not revealed at the time of writing.
On November 28th, the developers pushed out new updates to the game’s ranked system in order to improve the first time user experience. To do this, the team has made 2 “minor adjustments” that makes it easier for new players to get used to the web3 game, so that they can reach Rank 7 and higher in a more efficient manner. Getting to Rank 7 is needed to start earning $GODS rewards, gaining eligibility for prizes from Ranked mode, while unlocking access to weekly Formats game modes, as well as Sealed Mode.
The two adjustments include rescaling the number of Win Points needed to rank up, and also changing the “safety line” that prevents de-ranking. This means that progressing through Rank 1-8 now requires 20 less Win Points than before, while getting to the safety line in Rank 1 now requires earning 40 Win Points in that rank instead of 80. You also need 40 Win Points to reach the safety line in Ranks 2-4, which in this case is actually 7 points more than before. No changes to the safety line point requirement have been made for Rank 5 and above.
Sanctum cards have also been updated. Check them out and learn more about the latest updates in this official blog post.
If you haven’t played in a while or are looking to play blockchain-backed card games, then now might be a good time to hop into Gods Unchained for a chance at earning various rewards in Sealed Mode and more while enjoying a strategic web3 gaming experience.
