If so, then Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game is the answer, and it’s now officially live on Steam and Epic Games Store in early access.

What Is Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game?

Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game is a punishing vehicle-based obstacle course game in which you take on the role of a delivery driver who’s been tasked with delivering burgers to Pumplescroob. The route to the customer however is not a pleasant ride. Using your old wobblewagon burger truck, you’ll have to make your way past crazy obstacles, insane jumps, and other life-threatening traps throughout the dangerous road, all while attempting to deliver the order as fast as possible.

Throughout this deadly journey, your slim chances of survival will be helped by the fact that you’re able to boost your vehicle to high speeds in order to make it past big gaps in the road, while screaming into your microphone to slow down time and potentially save yourself from the many hazards that are spread throughout this adventurous delivery.

What Features Are Included in the Early Access Release of Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game?

According to the game’s Steam page, this early access release could be considered “a full game experience” as you can fully play through the main track from start to finish. For now, this early version of Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game features a challenging main track, boosts, the ability to slow down time by screaming into your microphone, and stat tracking, so you can see how long it took you to beat the track while also checking some other neat metrics such as total jumps, average speed, top speed, time spent screaming, and so on.

In the future, the existing gameplay is planned to be further improved by bringing a variety of quality additions that include the option to customize characters and outfits, leaderboards to compete in, new tracks to beat, more absurd obstacles to face, and new biomes to drive your way through.

The plan is to exit Early Access before the end of 2025, but the amount of time the developers will spend in this phase will ultimately depend on player feedback. Anyone interested in playing now can buy the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store with a -34% launch discount for the first two weeks, meaning you can purchase the game for $9.89 until May 14th. After that, the base price will be $14.99, and it looks like the price will not increase after exiting Early Access. The links to both store pages are included in the official X announcement.

You can play on Windows PCs, and possibly the Steam Deck too, as an official blog post states that it does work on there as well, but that it’s not optimized or recommended to be played there yet. An official Steam Deck release is coming soon though.

Before the launch, it was previously possible to play in-person during a weekend at Union Square, where the team showed up with an IRL McGoblinBurger truck pop-up on which you could play for a chance at winning $10,000 if you managed to beat the game on the first try. Nobody did.

More IRL competitions are coming soon: the team and truck will be at PAX East in Boston in early May, after which they will travel to Dallas for DreamHack at the end of May, so if you happen to be going to these events, then be sure to stop by for some goblin shenanigans and potential prizes!

Is Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game a Web3 Game?

No, Goblintown: Really Hard Driving Game is not a web3 game, but a proper web2 game instead that is visually based on an NFT project called Goblintown. Despite using a web3 IP for the game’s setting, the game itself does not seem to include any web3 features, nor are there any plans to integrate blockchain technology. Even the Discord servers for the game and NFT collection are separate, with the game developers simply focused on making a fun game without really knowing what goes on in the web3 side of things. The Epic Games Store page does not have any disclaimer about the use of blockchain technology either, nor does the FAQ section mention anything about crypto.

The Goblintown NFT collection launched in May 2022 as a set of 10,000 free mint goblins with no roadmap and no utility. You can find it on the Ethereum network via OpenSea, Magic Eden, and Blur for the floor price of 0.2747 ETH.
