Football.Fun (FDF) has started the qualifying phase for its second Founders Pack sale, with the first batch of new player cards (round 2.1) set to drop later this month. This phase includes a new tournament-based system for earning access, giving both newcomers and long-time players a shot at securing packs through live competition.

First of Three Drops in Founders Pack 2

The full Founders Pack 2 sale will feature 60 new players released in three parts. Round 2.1 is the first of these and includes the first 20 players. Rather than letting people buy their way in, Football.Fun is linking access to in-game performance.

To qualify, players need to earn Tournament Points (TP) by competing in two specific tournaments. These run from September 16 to 19 and again from September 19 to 23. The total TP earned across both tournaments will be the starting point for determining who gets allocation in this first round.

But it's not just about getting points. Football.Fun will also factor in how efficiently each player earned their TP, as well as an updated loyalty score that looks at a player's full activity history on the platform.

How Access Works Now

Access to Founders Pack 2.1 depends on how well you play during these two tournaments. TP totals are the baseline to measure skill, but that's just the starting line. From there, the system adjusts your ranking based on how much Gold you spent.

The loyalty score has also been reworked. It now includes past tournament wins, trade activity, pack openings, and more, all going back to the start of the Pro version's launch about a month ago. Importantly, trading or selling your players no longer lowers your loyalty score.

To make things fairer, 10% of the total Founders Pack 2 supply has been set aside for free rewards. These will go to top performers in the current tournaments and long-time users based on their historical gameplay. How much you get depends on the value of your squad, but there's a cap in place to avoid oversized rewards for high-value accounts.

Transition to the New System on Sept 23

A major shift is also coming on September 23. That's when Football.Fun will move away from its dual-currency system, where both Skill Points (SP) and Tournament Points (TP) were used, and fully switch to TP as the single in-game currency.

Until then, players have time to spend their SP and promote any key players from their Development Squad. If you miss the deadline, any remaining SP will be automatically converted to TP at equal value.

To help with this change, Football.Fun is giving players a bonus airdrop of 10% of the total SP they've earned so far. For instance, if you've earned 10,000 SP to date, you'll get an extra 1,000 SP added to your account to use before the cutoff.

Those who actively cut players from their squad during these two tournaments will get a 70% TP return, compared to the standard 60%. And any unpromoted players that remain after the switch will still be converted to TP, but without the boosted rate.

What the New Game Loop Brings

Once the TP-only system goes live on Pro, players will be able to use their TP to unlock new player cards directly; no more need to use SP for promotion. This change has already been tested on the free-to-play version and will go live for Pro users on September 23.

To balance things out, the amount of TP awarded in tournaments will rise, and pack prices will also increase. This is a way to ensure player value remains stable after the currency switch. But note that TP converted from the old system won't be dropped into your account all at once. Instead, it will roll out across future tournaments to keep things steady with upcoming buybacks.

Those who want to test the new setup can already try it out on the free-to-play site.

Loyalty Drops and New Referral Rewards

Beyond performance-based rewards, Football.Fun is also giving a portion of Founders Packs to loyal players who've been active since the start of the Pro version. This loyalty drop will also cover 10% of all Founders Pack 2 players and is based on gameplay data like tournament wins, pack activity, and squad size. A cap has been added to limit how much top spenders can receive, helping spread rewards more fairly across the user base.

More importantly, this isn't just a one-time reward. The team is already tracking player data for a longer-term loyalty program expected later this year.

Alongside the new economy, Football.Fun is bringing back its referral system. After issues with abuse in the first version, a new and improved version is launching on September 23. This new system will retroactively reward users who referred others starting from August 24. Any Gold earned from past referrals will be dropped into user accounts over the next few days.

Next month, players will also be able to claim referral rewards directly inside the app, once new features are added.

Key Dates to Remember

Here are the major dates players need to keep in mind:

  • September 16–19 and 19–23: Two qualifying tournaments for Founders Pack 2.1
  • September 23: Final day to spend SP and promote players before system change
  • September 23: Launch of new TP-only game loop on Pro
  • September 24: Founders Pack 2.1 sale begins
  • September 26: Founders Pack 2.1 player reveal
  • Late Sept/Early Oct: More Founders Packs to be released in rounds 2.2 and 2.3

Pack Sale 2.1 Already Gaining Traction

According to FDF Founder Adam McIntee, the first Founders Pack sale last month drew heavy attention, with over 10,000 people trying to grab packs the moment they went live. But only part of the supply was released, with the rest held back to make space for new users entering the platform later on.

This second sale keeps the same pricing and format, letting new players compete for access by showing their skills in live tournaments. OG players still get rewarded through the loyalty system, but new users aren't locked out.

With Founders Pack 2.1 now in motion and the next major game update just days away, Football.Fun is heading into one of its most competitive phases yet.
