Fishing Frenzy has launched its multi-week Ignition Phase, a new progression event that will run ahead of the game's upcoming $FISH token generation event (TGE). According to the team, there is currently no set end date for this phase. It will conclude once the team is confident about introducing the $FISH token into the game's ecosystem.

This new stage introduces the Ignition Score, a system designed to evaluate a player's participation and contribution to the game during this period. Players' scores will eventually be converted into a reward allocation at the time of the TGE.

What Is the Ignition Phase?

Based on the official post, Ignition Phase serves as the final step before the introduction of Fishing Frenzy's utility token, $FISH. During this phase, players are encouraged to take part in various in-game and community actions to grow their Ignition Score. These scores will help determine a player's share of the future token, based on an X post from Ronin

As stated by the team, the goal of this period is to observe organic player behavior without relying on fixed incentives. The phase also provides an early trial of the game's new Proof of Contribution system called Karma, which is set to be implemented alongside the token.

According to the team, the Ignition Phase is not linked to any past scoring systems or previous seasons. Its rewards and systems are independent and will only apply to the upcoming TGE and beyond.

How the Ignition Score Works

The Ignition Score acts as a marker of each player's overall contribution during this specific phase. Based on the official post, it will be calculated using a mix of in-game and out-of-game actions. The exact formulas or point values will not be made public, as the team wants to avoid incentivizing specific behaviors. Instead, they aim to reward broader support and engagement.

Examples listed by the team include playing the game, competing in leaderboards, making in-game purchases, holding or buying Fishing Frenzy NFT assets, referring new players, creating content, and taking part in community spaces.

It's worth noting that the score system is subject to change and may be adjusted throughout the phase. The team has confirmed that scores will be updated weekly. Once the phase ends, each player's final score will be wiped and translated into a future $FISH reward allocation.

What Happens After Ignition?

Based on the latest update, Ignition Scores will be reset after the phase ends. The final tally will be used to determine each player's $FISH allocation at the time of the TGE. This reward will be based on actions during the Ignition Phase.

The developers have stated clearly that Ignition Score will not influence or override any rewards from previous events. They emphasized in both their FAQ and a public Discord chat that the score "will be wiped and converted into a reward allocation after TGE" and that "Ignition phase will have independent rewards from previous reward allocations."

In response to concerns raised by players about whether Karma or Ignition Points would outweigh older scores such as Horizon Points or Frenzy Points, Uncharted co-founder Derek Lau clarified that "Phase / Season / Chapter / etc are all different labels," and they have chosen to move forward using the term "Phase."

Karma and Proof of Contribution

Karma is a new reputation system that developer Uncharted says will use a Proof of Contribution model. While Karma is not active yet, the team has stated that Ignition Scores will serve as the foundation for it.

The stated goal for Karma is to reward players who make valuable contributions to the ecosystem, whether through gameplay, community support, or other forms of involvement. Based on the team's description, the system is meant to prioritize sustainable engagement rather than short-term grind.

Fishing Frenzy will serve as the first testing ground for Karma. And it looks like the system may later be used in other projects, though this has not been confirmed. The connection between Karma and $FISH will become clearer once both go live together.

What We Know About the $FISH Token

The $FISH token will serve as the ecosystem, utility, and reward token for Fishing Frenzy. No specific date has been given for the TGE, though it is confirmed that it will follow the Ignition Phase.

The team describes $FISH as an ERC-20C token, which is a newer version of the standard ERC-20 token format. These tokens are designed with extra guardrails, allowing for more flexible in-app uses while including protections against bots and automated extraction.

As noted by the developers, $FISH rewards will be connected to Karma once it launches. Players with higher Karma may see more utility or benefits from the token, although no further details have been provided yet.

Contributing During Ignition Phase

During the Ignition Phase, players can take part in regular gameplay such as fishing, cooking, and diving. Actions like spending Gold on in-game items and sharing content on social platforms also contribute to score growth.

The team's official list of contribution factors includes:

  • Playing the game
  • Competing in leaderboards
  • Making in-game purchases
  • Holding or buying ecosystem NFT assets
  • Inviting new players
  • Creating content
  • Positive community engagement

These are examples only and may not represent a complete list. The team noted that formulas may be "fine-tuned and adjusted during the season" and that contribution methods are meant to reflect a wide range of participation.

Gameplay and NFTs

Fishing Frenzy continues to operate as a free to play mobile RPG that can be played through web browsers. Players cast lines, catch fish, cook meals, and engage in a risk-to-earn diving feature that can yield onchain rewards.

In March, the game added new systems where players can mint game items like rods, fish, and chests as NFTs. These assets can then be traded on the Ronin Market. Some items, like shiny fish, provide added value in specific game modes such as cooking.

Leaderboards continue to play a role in reward distribution. The game features cooking and fishing leaderboards that offer lootbox rewards for top players. While leaderboard success may impact a player's Ignition Score, the team has not stated how heavily it factors into the formula.

Players also have access to seasonal passes, including a VIP system and a Battle Pass. Both provide access to exclusive NFTs and offer reward multipliers for players who hold them.

Recent Milestones

Fishing Frenzy officially launched its Uncharted Waters campaign on the Ronin network in April 2025. That season was followed by Season 2, New Horizons, which ran for 10 weeks and ended on August 21.

During Season 2, the team introduced the Community Clash tournament, a competitive event that ran from July 17 to July 31. The event featured a prize pool of 10,000 $RON and offered exclusive pets to the top 10 teams.

With Season 2 now complete, the team has shifted focus to the Ignition Phase and the upcoming $FISH token launch. Based on the available info, all rewards earned during Ignition will apply only to future allocations tied to the token and Karma system.

For now, the only way to influence one's standing in the upcoming token distribution is through continued participation during the Ignition Phase. The team says scores will be updated weekly and will continue to evolve as they monitor player activity.
