The official whitepaper for Fishing Frenzy’s upcoming $FISH token is finally here, revealing tokenomics, utility, and more details for its web3 gaming community to know ahead of TGE, for which there does not seem to be an official date yet at the time of writing.

What Is the $FISH Token?

$FISH is an ERC20-C token (a variation of ERC-20 designed specifically for app tokens) that will be issued on the Ronin network and is described as an asset that embraces a “Proof of Contribution” (PoC) model.

According to the whitepaper, $FISH is intended as more than just a gaming token, made instead to be the core currency of a larger ecosystem that is built to reward meaningful contributions. The idea is that users who actively engage, support, create content, or otherwise contribute to the growth of Fishing Frenzy will be recognized and rewarded via this on-chain token.

In practical terms, $FISH will coexist with a companion token, $xFISH, which is spend-only (not tradable) and serves as a mechanism for rewards and game economy sinks. Users will be able to convert between $FISH and $xFISH under defined rules.

The whitepaper emphasizes 2 main aspects: prioritizing contribution as the key metric in distributing token rewards, and aligning incentives so that token holders and long-term ecosystem contributors benefit rather than short-term speculators.

$FISH Utility & Tokenomics

When it comes to utility, $FISH will come with a variety of in-game token sinks, while $xFISH will be used to issue rewards. $FISH will be required to access premium content, unlock new game modes, participate in a “diving” risk-to-earn game mode, repair fishing rods (which are NFT gear), access premium missions, and more.

Holders will also be able to stake $FISH to earn “Karma” (more on this below) which entitles them to revenue share from game purchases, fee sharing from withdrawals, and other perks. Players who achieve high Karma or contribute meaningfully may receive bonus $FISH, access to airdrops, and extra benefits.

As for tokenomics, $FISH will have a maximum total supply of 1 billion tokens across both $FISH and $xFISH on Ronin. A large majority of this supply is allocated to community & growth, with smaller allocations for team, advisors, and treasury. Here’s the allocation breakdown:

  • Airdrop (25% of supply) - 50% unlocked on TGE and 50% unlocked via FDV-based milestones.
  • Community & Growth (40%) - 10% unlocked on TGE, followed by a 2-year vesting period.
  • Team (12.5%) - Conditional unlock based on FDV milestones.
  • Liquidity (10%) - Fully unlocked at TGE.
  • Treasury (10%) - 10% unlocked on TGE, with the rest under a 2-year vesting schedule.
  • Advisors (2.5%) - 10% on TGE, followed by a vesting period of 2 years.

The whitepaper introduces a milestone-based unlocking mechanism, where certain allocations unlock only after the token reaches specified fully diluted valuations (FDV) and stays above them for 7 days on average, with players requiring to stake 50% or more of their initial airdrop during the period to qualify for tokens tied to FDV milestones. In the case of the team's allocation, they will have 25% of their stash unlock at $25 million FDV, so long as the token trades above that milestone for 7 days on average. Their next milestones are at $50 million, $100 million, and $200 million FDV, with 25% unlocking at each milestone.

Circulating supply at launch is expected to be ~27.5% of total, with up to 75% unlocked over 24 months plus some portion dependent on FDV-based milestones.

What Is Karma in Fishing Frenzy?

Karma is the reputation or contribution score system at the heart of the $FISH economy. It is a gamified metric that measures how much a player (or creator/participant) contributes to the ecosystem of Fishing Frenzy, both on-chain and off-chain.

Players gain Karma based on a variety of actions:

  • Staking $FISH tokens
  • Providing liquidity to $FISH / RON pools
  • Making in-game purchases
  • Buying, selling, transferring $FISH
  • Playing the game (fishing, cooking, diving, competing)
  • Creating useful content or community contributions
  • Referring new users

Increasing your Karma Score as much as possible is crucial, as higher Karma unlocks premium quests, leaderboards, and access to $xFISH rewards. It also unlocks lower withdrawal tax rates, as players with higher Karma face smaller fees when converting or withdrawing, whilst users with low Karma may be taxed heavily. A share of game revenue and fee flows will also be distributed monthly to players in proportion to Karma. For example, 30% of in-app purchase revenue is designated to be redistributed via buybacks and then allocated to users by Karma. High Karma players also might become preferred participants in future airdrops, whitelists, and new project integrations, so it’s a way of future-proofing your status in the ecosystem.

In short: Karma is the underlying reputation mechanism tying your actions in the game, community and economy to tangible long-term rewards. It ensures that the token model rewards sustainable contributors, not just short-term grinders or bots.
