Browser-based mobile game Fishing Frenzy has officially launched Season 2: New Horizons, introducing new features and bigger rewards for players to earn throughout a duration of 10 weeks.
Season 2: New Horizons is the second play and earn campaign of Fishing Frenzy, building upon the game’s Uncharted Waters campaign with a host of new updates and a larger allocation of rewards for players to earn due to this also being a longer season.
The season kicked off on June 12 and throughout this 10-week period, the developers will look to add various updates along the way while setting things up behind the scenes for plans they have in store after the season is over. As for the key features already in place for the start of the season, these include the Bloom Lagoon, new chests, new rods, segmented leaderboards, Horizon Points, luck attributes, revamped battle pass, and new partnerships across the Ronin network.
The Bloom Lagoon is a new zone in which you can collect 7 special pets, catch 16 new fish and use various new recipes. This area is available for a limited time only, and the exclusive pets you can collect there have been made in partnership with well-known web3 games such as Fableborne, Pixels, Pirate Nation, and more. You can access this area from June 12 to June 26.
A new set of Pioneer chest NFTs and Pioneer rod NFTs have been added to the fishing RPG, with the new chests featuring more variety and new rewards, including sushi, gold, rods, and a potential chance of uncovering “something rarer”. While chests have been improved, they’re now not as common as they were before due to new rebalanced leaderboard rewards. Among the chests that you now have a chance of catching while fishing is the Lucky Chest, which you will be able to open at the end of the season “for a small reward”. As for the newly-added rods, they feature ‘luck’ attributes that give you a small chance of gaining bonus rewards, such as the new Lucky Chest, when fishing, but come with slightly decreased chances of catching shiny fish than previous editions do. One of the new rods is the Horizon Rod, which is awarded to returning players who spent at least 20 RON tokens in Season 1: Uncharted Waters, or to players who hold an unlisted Founders Pass.
Points from the battle pass have been nerfed while points from leaderboards have been buffed to provide better balance. In an effort to tackle botting and reward real players accordingly, the team has updated its leaderboard system with segmented leaderboards for VIP players. Specifically, VIP2+ players now have their own leaderboard and pool to compete in, separate from the one for VIP1 players.
For this season, players can earn Horizon Points, which are used to determine your share of future unrevealed rewards. To encourage new players to join in this longer season, allocation of rewards for points is said to have been increased in comparison to the first season. If you collected Frenzy Points before, don’t worry, as the team has stated that your Frenzy Points have been saved, and so have your referrals and VIP bonuses.
The new battle pass costs 25 RON and is said to come with improved premium rewards that include sushi, new golden chests, and pets of Common, Rare, and Epic rarity.

In this cozy game, gameplay simply revolves around fishing, casting at varying distances and waiting for the fish to take the bait so you can start reeling it in through a mini-game in which you have a limited time to successfully capture the moving fish by keeping it inside a certain zone. Every cast uses up energy, of which you have a limited number of but can gain more of by using sushi, that you can buy with gold, while gold is earned from selling fish.
Next to daily login rewards, you gain goodies from daily and special quests as you try your best to earn chests and Horizon Points. Chests are NFTs that you can open to get rod NFTs, and you can earn these lootboxes through weekly fishing and cooking leaderboards. These leaderboards also award Horizon Points, and you can earn more of these points through the battle pass as well as through the VIP system. By spending RON in the game, you gain VIP points to level up through the system, unlocking rewards such as Horizon Points and pets at varying VIP levels.
Whether you’re a newcomer or a returning player, Season 2 gives everyone a new opportunity to play to airdrop by collecting Horizon Points. It’s not exactly clear what you'll get from both Frenzy and Horizon Points, but if you want to make sure you don’t miss out on a token airdrop or another potential valuable reward, then now’s the time to dive into Fishing Frenzy and start collecting points for future prizes. A timeframe for reward distribution has not been announced at the time of writing.
