Fear the Man-Eaters as Attack on Titan Partners with The Sandbox

Another huge announcement for The Sandbox as they reveal a new partnership with Attack on Titan, one of the most successful mangas ever created! This partnership will bring Attack on Titan into Sandbox's collection of virtual worlds, where they plan to create their own Attack on Titan experiences and NFT collections.

What is Attack on Titan?

Attack on Titan is a Japanese manga series written by Hajime Isayama. First conceived in 2006, Attack on Titan saw an 11 year production run that resulted in 139 chapters, telling the story of a future world where humanity lives in cities protected by giant walls to guard against gigantic, man-eating humanoids known as Titans! The story follows Eren Yeager, a teenager who vows to defeat the Titans after they destroy his town and kill his mother.

Attack on Titan has also spun off other mangas, novels, video games, a four season, animated television series, a live action miniseries, and potentially, even a movie!

With over 140 million copies printed, and even appearances on the New York Times Best Sellers list, Attack on Titan has caught the attention of an entire generation of manga and sci-fi fans!

Attack on Titan in The Sandbox

And now, Attack on Titan plans to bring their popular IP into The Sandbox, potentially introducing web3 and blockchain gaming into the consciousness of their millions of fans around the world!

There will be an Attack on Titan themed experience built in The Sandbox. In this adventure, players will have a chance to experience the post-apocalyptic world of Attack on Titan for themselves. Players can join the experience and fight against the Titans as characters from the series including Eren, Mikasa, and the Armored Titan!

Attack on Titan will also create a series of NFT collectibles. No details on these NFTs yet, but it will most likely include an avatar collection, and potentially some other cool, Titan-themed items and decorations!

Additionally, Attack on Titan will be part of an upcoming land sale. Attack on Titan will claim their own land plot as a premier partner, and use that as the foundation for their upcoming experience(s). Then during the land sale, users will have an opportunity to purchase land plots near the Attack on Titan franchise.

And though map location has no real effect in The Sandbox at the moment, the Sandbox team does have plans to institute travel restrictions and neighborhood bonuses that will make map location matter more in the future.

More About Land in The Sandbox

The Sandbox has been holding land sales for their metaverse for five years, slowly selling out the plots in their user created metaverse. So far, an estimated 70-75% of the land plots have been sold. And The Sandbox has clearly stated that they have no plans to ever create more than their initially planned amounts of land.

So, though there are still empty sections The Sandbox hasn't put up for sale yet, the opportunity to pick up a brand new land plot will be gone at some point in the near future!

Owning a land plot in The Sandbox allows you to publish your very own experience, whether it be a game, a hang-out spot, a shop, or whatever else you can envision! Users create their Sandbox experiences with Game Maker, a free tool that is available to everyone.

Land owners who publish their Sandbox experience can even monetize it by creating their own NFT collection and requiring players to own one of their NFTs before the player can join the game. Future plans include the ability to rent land plots to others, and potentially the ability to charge an entrance fee. Land owners can also offer rewards, giving players a chance to play and earn or play to earn in the game.
