Farcana, a leading Web3 gaming studio based in UAE, has achieved a major milestone. It received $10 million in seed funding from notable investors like Animoca Brands, Polygon Ventures, and Fenbushi Capital. This is a huge step forward for the gaming business in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), notably in the Web3 sector.
Made with Unreal Engine 5, Farcana's 3rd-person multiplayer shooter is not just another game. It uniquely combines gaming with cryptocurrency. The game features novel "Free Mint" Bitcoin ordinals and permanent Bitcoin prize pools. Attracting over 40,000 users, it stands out in the Web3 gaming landscape.
The influx of capital, especially from renowned entities like Animoca Brands, is set to enhance the Farcana game and its integration with the Bitcoin ecosystem. This aligns with their plans for an upcoming token launch and the full game's release, scheduled for early next year.
Fenbushi Capital Investment Director Clarence Zhou expressed high hopes for Farcana, viewing it as a potential icon in blockchain gaming. Similarly, Yat Siu, Animoca Brands' co-founder and chairman, praised Farcana for its impressive development and growing popularity.
Drawing inspiration from hit titles like Overwatch and Valorant, Farcana offers a unique experience with smaller, strategic maps and distinct game modes. Its storyline unfolds on Mars, where players use powers granted by a mysterious substance, Axelar, in an intense tournament. The game's development benefits from insights provided by G2 Esports founder Carlos "Ocelote" Rodriguez. It made a major appearance at the Dubai Esports Festival in June 2023 with a pre-alpha demo.
Yat Siu emphasizes Animoca's investment in Farcana as part of their broader strategy to drive Web3 development in the MENA region. This is in line with their recent partnership with Saudi Arabia's NEOM, focusing on local tech advancement.
Farcana offers a unique tournament feature, rewarding top players with Bitcoin. The game, which is free-to-play, plans to offer additional features like a battle pass, NFTs, and crafting options. All in-game items, from skins to charms, will be NFTs, purchasable with the $FAR token. Farcana is also gearing up for a "Mars Enigma Vault" NFT free mint on the Polygon network, scheduled for December 19th.
