Pixion Games, the developer of F2P ARPG strategy game Fableborne has announced that they have successfully raised a total of $12.4 million, with the latest funding round led by Delphi Ventures.
The exact amount raised in this last strategic funding round was not revealed, with the blockchain gaming studio announcing the total amount raised so far instead. Aside from Delphi Ventures, some of the other web3 investors that participated in this round include well-known names such as Animoca Brands, Yield Guild Games (YGG), Axie Infinity and Ronin developer Sky Mavis, Spartan Capital, L1D, and Arete Capital, among other unnamed investors and partners.
Back in June 2023, Pixion Games secured $5.5 million for Fableborne tournaments and accessible rewards.
The latest funding is said to represent a “major step forward” in developing an accessible, mobile-first blockchain gaming experience, transforming how players “engage with ownership, accessibility, and innovation in gaming.”
Specifically, the latest investments will help the web3 studio accelerate development of Fableborne, meaning they can now have more resources to scale development and thus help the team improve gameplay as they add in engaging new features while ensuring they can deliver a polished blockchain-powered game for everyone to enjoy. The raise lets the company grow in size as well, allowing them to bring in more experienced developers, creatives, and designers to help the team create a unique, category-defining title.
Next to team expansion and additional support for ongoing game development, the new funds will also help in launching the $POWER token while supporting the rollout of something not revealed in the official announcement. All of this will help deliver a “thriving” in-game economy while introducing deeper player ownership.
The $POWER token is the studio’s native token for the Power Protocol Ecosystem, one that is getting expanded thanks to the new financing. The Power Protocol is a live-ops infrastructure platform that is said to help developers innovate and deliver “dynamic opportunities for our players to thrive within the ecosystem.”
“This raise signifies a transformative step in our journey to make mobile gaming the cornerstone of web3. Fableborne is not just a game; it’s a vision. A vision to unite players, creators, and communities in a thriving ecosystem driven by accessibility, innovation, and engagement.”
For the future, the team shared a mini roadmap that teases Season 4, $POWER, and an unrevealed milestone as some of the exciting new additions coming soon to the Fableborne franchise.
Following up this funding announcement is a Twitter/X Space this January 29th at 5 PM UTC, when you can tune in to learn more about the team’s vision behind this recent raise and find out more about what they plan next for their play and own game as they discuss together with a couple of guests about how mobile is the future of web3 gaming. The panel for this discussion includes Pixion Games CEO and Founder Kam Punia, Delphi Digital Founding Partner Piers Kicks, Ronin Ambassador Luke Franks, and Sky Mavis Co-Founder Jihoz.
The upcoming season should mean that players will have another opportunity to play to airdrop $POWER tokens before TGE. Back in November and early December of 2024, players were able to play to airdrop $POWER in Fableborne Adventures Season 3 by collecting Gold Essence across limited-time events and earning other types of Essences through other activities such as social quests and holding Primordial NFTs. Gold Essence and similar will likely be converted to the $POWER token in the future. No exact TGE date is available at the time of writing, but you can probably expect it to take place at some point this year, with a proper timeframe probably to be revealed after Season 4. No starting date for the upcoming season is available as of writing.
