The developers of Evermoon, known as a web3 5v5 MOBA, have announced a rebrand of their blockchain gaming project into Evermoon Games, signaling a significant expansion of their core vision.
Evermoon Games is an entertainment hub and web3 gaming studio that builds upon their original vision of creating a MOBA game by fully expanding into an interconnected ecosystem that aims to be a long-term home for casual games, community quests, AI VTubers, and shared rewards.
While their flagship MOBA is still in development, the small indie team already has 5 core products for its growing brand across fields that include AI VTubers, creator tools, casual gaming, community quests, and more. They won’t stop with this suite of offerings either, as they are already at work creating new sustainable products that can scale faster and help grow the studio. This means that the game’s community can look forward to enjoying a variety of activities across this ever-growing universe as it continues to expand and cater to a diverse range of audiences.
Right now, the ecosystem already has casual games to enjoy such as endless runner Axolt’s Escape while enabling gamers to earn rewards through their questing platform Moon Mission. As the team works on delivering new casual games, you can tune into 24/7 livestreams from AI VTubers while participating in seasonal events. The team is also making “fun partnerships,” delivering rewards to content creators, and planning on launching their own ecosystem token, $EVM, for which they have a “sustainable” plan that is said to be tied to “real product revenute.”
This entertainment IP also has backing from some big partners, including Square Enix, Sony’s web3 infrastructure Soneium, and more brands providing support in a number of different ways, including blockchain support, marketing, and collaborative game content.
The team has decided to rebrand because they want to be capable of withstanding tough market conditions instead of just being active during a bull run or hype wave. In their own words:
“Because we want to survive and thrive — not just during a bull run or market hype, but long-term. The market is tough. Web3 alone isn’t enough anymore, especially when it’s treated like just a financial tool. Good games take time, especially one on the scale of a competitive 5v5. Instead of betting everything on one huge launch, we’re choosing the smarter, more sustainable and higher potential path: Multiple games. Real revenue. A studio model that scales!”
Instead of putting their eggs all in one basket by making one big live service game, the studio hopes that building a large ecosystem will prove to be the more sustainable and safer bet. Indeed, many high-profile web3 games have been shutting down in the past few months despite raising millions in funding and receiving backing from prominent names. Game development, whether in web2 or web3, is incredibly risky, especially when paired with crypto, so branching out with smaller products that can deliver reoccurring revenue does make sense. Hopefully the team’s plans successfully work out and we end up getting an even better blockchain-powered MOBA than we would’ve if there was no ecosystem surrounding it.
The developers have a wide range of plans for their entertainment ecosystem. While no timeframes were given in the rebrand announcement, the first wave of this new hub is set to consist of many notable launches.
Among the current ecosystem plans are the release of a tower defense roguelike called Cat vs Cucumber, alongside other unannounced games. Contributors and early supporters can look forward to airdrops, and the community can expect the token launch to take place in the near future on a certain centralized exchange. Everyone looking forward to the lane-based MOBA Evermoon can expect beta testing to take place soon, with new marketplace and capsule events also planned. When it comes to play to earn features, the company is working on creating more ways to enable players to unlock rewards and own assets while getting real value out of competitive gameplay. More details and timeframes on all these plans will be given over time.
Earlier this year, Evermoon unveiled the DeFAI Launchpad, an AI-driven platform in which you have AI trade, stake, and earn for you.
