Initiates Season 2 has officially gone live in Engines of Fury, bringing major new gameplay updates, new progression items, and new ways for players to explore the wasteland.
The update introduces 2 significant systems, Co-op Mode and Scavenger Mode, along with the Temporary Initiate Pass and the Single Use Engine Core. These features expand both the cooperative and economic aspects of the game while providing new paths for beginners and experienced players alike. Engines of Fury remains available as a free to play PvPvE extraction shooter on the Epic Games Store and continues to operate with its monthly wipe cycle and its dual-currency system based on ALLOY and $FURY. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.
What Is Engines of Fury?
Engines of Fury is a web3 PvPvE extraction shooter set in a post-apocalyptic industrial wasteland. Players explore large maps filled with mutant creatures, rival raiders, hidden loot, and high-risk encounters. The game is played from a top-down perspective that relies on real-time combat, limited visibility, sound cues, and careful positioning. Each match begins with players entering maps such as Fairwater or Cliffside and attempting to gather resources before extracting without dying. Any player who dies during a raid loses their inventory, including most equipped items. These items become lootable by any other survivor who reaches the location.
Surviving a raid allows players to return to their personal hideout. The hideout functions as the central hub for crafting, storage, upgrades, and economic activity. It contains key modules such as the Generator, which powers all other systems; the Biolab, which allows the crafting of Faction Lockboxes, and the Engine, which is required to open those Lockboxes in order to obtain ALLOY.
The game runs on a dual resource structure. ALLOY is the soft in-game asset earned through gameplay and used for most activities such as buying consumables, obtaining fuel, or crafting. $FURY is the on-chain token that players can obtain by exchanging ALLOY at the Trading Station or through certain gameplay events. This system forms a long-term progression loop in which players gather materials, craft Lockboxes, open them using the Engine, earn ALLOY, convert it into $FURY, and reinvest that $FURY into upgrades or convenience items.
Engines of Fury also features a monthly cycle. At the end of each month, an event known as the Sporefall wipes all non-tokenized gear. This reset system ensures that all players reenter the new cycle on equal footing while retaining their long-term assets such as Faction Shards, Lockboxes, Cores, and Initiate Passes.
What’s New in Engines of Fury Initiates Season 2?
Initiates Season 2 has introduced 4 major features: Co-op Mode, Scavenger Mode, the Temporary Initiate’s Pass, and the Single-Use Engine Core. All 4 features expand the tactical and economic choices available to players during the new season while delivering a more accessible blockchain gaming experience.
Co-op Mode allows 2 players to team up and enter raids together. Players can invite a friend directly from the hideout by pressing the Co-op button and sending an invitation using the nickname search bar. Once the invitation is accepted, the 2 players form a party and can select any map before entering a match together. Both players spawn at the same point, allowing them to coordinate attacks, cover each other during loot interactions, and fight together against stronger opponents.
Scavenger Mode provides an alternate way to enter raids. It is designed for players who want a lower-risk option or who do not have enough resources to enter battles with their own equipment. In this mode, players begin the raid with a basic low-tier loadout containing simple weapons, armor, and ammunition. They do not use their own gear in this mode and therefore avoid the risk of losing valuable items. Loot restrictions also apply, which means players cannot open Big Loot Boxes or Council Caches. All items extracted successfully are taxed at 20% by the Council. Scavenger Mode is accessible through the Comms Station by selecting a map and choosing the Scavenger option. It is intended to help new players gather resources and to give experienced players a safe way to explore or recover materials.

The Temporary Initiate’s Pass is a non-NFT seasonal item that grants the Initiated Raider status, just like its permanent NFT counterpart. This status allows players to open Council Caches during raids. The pass can be purchased at the hideout Trading Station for 2000 $FURY, with pricing set to possibly change in upcoming updates. It remains active until the next monthly wipe and thus only lasts for this season, no matter how early or late you end up purchasing it during this period. The Initiated Raider status activates a daily 5-hour window that begins the moment a player enters their first raid of a 24-hour cycle. During this period, Council Caches become accessible, with each map containing 6 Council Caches. At least 1 cache holds a rare Faction Shard, while the rest contain small amounts of ALLOY.
The Single-Use Engine Core is a non-NFT consumable item that allows a player to open 1 Faction Lockbox at the Engine module. It can be bought at the Trading Station for 400 $FURY. The item expires immediately after use and provides a one-time method to extract ALLOY from a crafted Lockbox without needing a permanent Core NFT. Because the Engine consumes a significant amount of power, players must ensure their Generator is adequately upgraded and supplied with Globs of Fuel to support the unlocking process.
How to Play to Earn in Engines of Fury Initiates Season 2
Earning in Engines of Fury centers on gathering ALLOY, collecting Faction Shards, crafting Faction Lockboxes, and converting resources into $FURY. Initiates Season 2 expands the available methods and makes it easier for new players to join the economic loop.
Players earn ALLOY by opening Council Caches, looting defeated players, or unlocking Faction Lockboxes with the Engine. Scavenger Mode provides a method for risk-free resource gathering, although extracted loot is taxed. Co-op Mode gives players a tactical advantage by allowing partnerships in high-value areas.
Faction Shards remain the key ingredients for crafting Lockboxes. It’s required to have 5 identical Shards in the Biolab to create a Lockbox NFT. These Lockboxes can then be opened in the Engine using either a permanent Core NFT or a Single Use Engine Core. The Engine can unlock between 100 and 10k ALLOY per Lockbox, and the Trading Station can then be used to exchange ALLOY for $FURY tokens through a dynamic conversion system.
Engines of Fury is available as a free to play title that you can download on Windows PCs or Mac through the Epic Games Store to try out and enjoy before deciding on whether to spend on the Temporary Initiate’s Pass to unlock play to earn gameplay throughout Initiates Season 2.
