Developer Ion Games and publisher Gala Games have revealed a host of upcoming new features and improvements that are soon making their way to their 4X MMO, Echoes of Empire.
What Are the New Features Coming Soon?
In the latest issue of ‘Latest and Greatest’ the community has been given a list of features labelled in different priorities to give players an idea of what they can expect to see get released sooner. In the high-priority list, it’s revealed that the first Guild system is coming soon and is set to include Guild formation, moderation, applications, as well as spatial UI support. A leaderboard is also on its way to add more competition between players, with the global ladder set to focus on stats such as the number of Stardust owned and the player’s combat power. The high-priority list also mentions the introduction of PvE combat, which means that players will soon be able to attack specific Celestial Objects that will have “a variety of enemy themes.” This will open up the opportunity gain new types of resources as a reward for eliminating enemies.
A new type of multi-fleet attack called the Rally attack is planned to launch soon, letting players team up to take on a dangerous enemy together. The combat system for Capital Ships will soon be updated in order to calculate damage in a procedural way while including a limit to the number of Capital Ships that can defend at the same time. Last but not least on the high-priority list is the addition of real-time player fleet movement, allowing players to actually see movement of each other’s fleets on the map, which can prove helpful in seeing incoming attacks. The feature will be “capped to a user-adjusted number of viewable enemy fleets” in order to ensure the most stable experience.
Future Plans
In the near future, the developers plan on adding basic chat functionality, alongside Territory Control Nodes, an upgrade to Celestial Objects, as well as the ability to craft modules for Flagships. These are listed as being of medium priority, while other additions that are set to be added farther in the future include new ships, login rewards, a skill tree and in-app purchase bundles.
