Popular shopping platform, eBay has rolled out several Web3 positions in order to support its newly purchased NFT marketplace, KnownOrigin. The company acquired the marketplace in June 2022 amidst the bearish crypto market. eBay advertised top roles like Crypto Counsel, Head of Community, and marketing executive. Other advertised roles include Senior Product Designer, Tech Lead, and Artist Liaison Manager.
According to the advert made by eBay on LinkedIn, the Crypto Counsel role will primarily serve the NFT marketplace by advertising the company's blueprint into the NFT and blockchain sphere. eBay will collaborate with their counterparts in taxes, intellectual-property (IP) and security. The yet-to-be appointed lawyer will devise some regulatory guidance as the company delves deeper into Web3.
The company stated in the job post: “KnownOrigin.io is an early Web3 pioneer, an NFT marketplace empowering a new generation of digital artists to express themselves, find an audience and earn a living from their passion. And they're looking for like-minded enthusiasts to join them in their venture!”
Despite the bearish market, eBay has continued to actively participate in the NFT world in the past few months . In May 2022, eBay released a collection of hockey-themed NFT in partnership with Tezos- and Polygon-based NFT platform OneOf. These NFT features important hockey icons including Wayne Gretzky, NFT prices range from $10-$1500. Besides this, eBay partnered with tech-enabled fan engagement platform Notable Live where users can gain access to digital collectibles.
Other top companies like Amazon have also released vacancies for key Web3 positions. The world's largest infrastructure provider advertised a position for a Senior GTM Specialist to join its Web3 Go-To-Market team.
