Traditional RPGs hand you a sword and a quest, so we sorted the field for you and found five that do something stranger: guild wars, raidable kingdoms, classless dungeons, loot you can lose forever, and a world built by its own players. These are the crypto games and blockchain games shaping what play to earn games look like in the RPG genre this August.
5. ROHAN2 Global
ROHAN2 Global is a live cross-platform MMORPG for Windows, Android, and iOS on ONEchain, the current name for the NEXUS gamechain service previously branded R.O.H.A.N.2 on CROSS. Players choose one of five race-and-class identities: Human/Knight, Dhan/Assassin, Elf/Healer, Half-Elf/Archer, or Dekan/Dragon Fighter. Quests and daily requests lead into open-world hunting, crafting, and character upgrades, while territory bosses let the winning guild control a region and Shadow Leap turns PvP into a large cross-server fight. Tower of Infinity opens at level 80 with rising floors and seasonal rankings. RUBY handles gacha, special items, and market purchases, and sellers receive sRUBY that CROSS RAMP converts into the on-chain RUBYx form at a stated one-to-one ratio. A wallet is required for that conversion, but not for ordinary play. Character and gear NFTs remain a future plan rather than a live feature.

4. Fableborne
Fableborne is a free mobile action RPG and base-building strategy game for Android and iOS on Ronin, currently running Season 5 as a limited-access build rather than a confirmed global release. Half the game is a direct hero raid, where players steer a squad through rooms in real time, use each Hero's abilities, and push toward the Throne Room. The other half turns that same player into a level designer, arranging rooms, defensive units, Elite Guards, and an Imperial Guard across a Kingdom so future attackers have to solve the layout. Season 5 adds the Hero Shiver, a Desert biome, four equipment slots, Hero Energy, Unranked PvP, and a revised Guild system. Core play is free, and Pixion says blockchain features do not gate ordinary raids. Kingdom NFTs and ERC-1155 Kingdom Supplies live on Ronin, where lower-tier items and POWER can be combined into higher rarities.

3. Calamity
Calamity is a free open-beta 2D action RPG and MMO for Windows, macOS, Android, and limited iOS testing, with optional blockchain ownership handled through Ronin. Rather than locking a character into a permanent class, Calamity builds its three specializations around weapons: swords and axes create a Warrior, bows and crossbows create an Archer, and staffs or mage blades create a Mage. Players take those builds into short top-down dungeons, collect materials and equipment, then craft, socket, or enhance the next loadout. A 3v3 Arena handles direct competition, and an Auction House gives unwanted gear another use, taking a 15 percent fee from completed sales. Seasonal starts reset characters, equipment, and Gold, though account-level cosmetics can persist. Ronin-based assets include cosmetic NFTs, Dragon Ring companions, and Factory NFTs, while the WYRM token remains planned rather than live.

2. Cambria
Cambria is a browser-based, top-down extraction MMORPG from Tempest Labs, inspired by RuneScape and Ultima Online, running on Ronin and Abstract Chain with no download required. Its core mode, Gold Rush, starts every expedition in Capital City, a safe hub for trading, crafting, skill training, and free healing. From there players push into zones ranked by danger tier, hunting Artifacts, Curios, and Gems. The tension comes from the death rules: low tiers forgive mistakes, but in the highest tiers a death costs the entire inventory except one random item. A Stress mechanic drains energy the longer a run continues, and a climbing multiplier tempts players to stay out a little longer before extracting. Any player can attack in the open world, and a bounty system marks aggressors on the map. Loot can be exchanged at the Royal Treasury for Silver, which survives death, and Royal Favor, which does not. The RSGP token is planned for September and is not live yet.

1. World of Claudecraft
World of Claudecraft is a free, community-driven browser MMORPG on Solana that began as a weekend build by AI studio Levy Street in mid-2026, then transitioned to full community ownership as an open-source project. The core loop follows classic tab-target MMO conventions: players pick from nine class archetypes, quest through a persistent open world, and work up to five-player dungeons, ten-player raids, and procedurally generated rift content at the endgame. Solo players can run scalable delves with AI companions instead of waiting for a group. The social layer is unusually complete for a browser game, with parties, guilds, trading, duels, a Dungeon Finder with role queues, ranked PvP arenas, and a battle royale for shorter sessions. Everything runs in the browser on desktop and mobile with no wallet required, and the game has since expanded to Steam, the App Store, and Google Play. Linking a Solana wallet stays entirely optional, displaying a holder tier and offering cosmetic items at a discount using the WOC token, while core characters, gear, and dungeons never touch the chain.
