The developers of DeFi Kingdoms have launched patch 1.2.0 for their pixelated blockchain title, enhancing the overall gameplay experience further with the introduction of the Warrior class to combat alongside other additions.
The latest update is the culmination of months of work on the Combat Engine, which the team has now managed to properly flesh out in order to have a decent foundation from which they can create strategically in-depth battles next to adding various sound and visual effects. As a result of the progress made within the last few months, the team is now ready to debut the 4th Hero into the battlefield: the Warrior class. The Pass Turn mechanic has also been introduced, making it possible for Heroes to skip turns if there’s no good move to make, with the developers also reducing HP growth of high-level Mad Boars thanks to community feedback. This should help makes the foes more bearable now on.
The Warrior is a close-combat Hero that further adds tactical variety to combat. This Hero’s Skill Codex has now been unlocked, making it possible to use the character for Void Hunt: Mad Boar. For this brawler, there are 3 different Disciplines: Gladiator, Juggernaut, and Bloodthirst. With the Gladiator Discipline you have Bleed and AoE-heavy abilities, while Juggernaut, as the name implies, strengthens the Warrior’s Defence, and Bloodthirst is about packing strong attacks and “allowing the Warrior to sustain some HP.” Whether you focus on one Discipline or go for a bit of everything, the patch notes state that this Hero is “a perfect fit for almost any team that is in urgent need of Tank, Offtank or Damage Dealer.”
The Skill Codex of the Warrior brings various new mechanics to the game’s Combat Engine. These include Cleave, Execute, Lifesteal, Riposte, and Slow. Cleave makes it possible to attack both the targeted opponent and the position right behind the enemy. Execute lets you finish off a target if they have less than a certain amount of HP, though this can be “subject to status effect resistance.” Lifesteal lets you gain some HP by dealing damage, while Riposte can let you inflict damage on the enemy when you get hit with physical damage. Slow lowers the current Speed of a character by a certain percentage, and it can stack.
