The biggest update yet has arrived to DeFi Dungeons, introducing Raids as a whole new gameplay feature to earn rewards in by playing the Solana-powered idle RPG. Players can now form parties, battle raid bosses, and compete for the rarest rewards in this fantasy realm.
Raids bring multi-boss encounters that test endurance, planning, and team composition. For players who have already explored Nightvale’s Dungeons and Mythics, Raids represent a new gameplay system that blends high-stakes strategy with on-chain mechanics.
What Is the Raids Feature?
Raids are multi-stage encounters where players form a party of up to 3 characters to battle up to 3 powerful Raid Bosses. Each fight lasts 8 hours, testing how well players manage resources, positioning, and risk.
Players can enter the Raids Portal in Nightvale to begin enjoying this challengign new feature. Before setting out, the Camp provides essential details such as boss stats, recommended team setups, and loot tables for each encounter. Players are not required to fight every boss and can adjust their approach based on risk tolerance and available resources.
Each Raid allows full party customization, letting players fine-tune their team across the 4 main classes:
- Warrior (+15 Combat)
- Marksman (+10 Fortune, +10 Luck)
- Mage (+5 Damage)
- Priest (+15 Vitality)
Character slots also affect performance, with the first slot boosting Vitality, the second slot boosting Combat, and Slot 3 increasing Luck and Fortune. Players can further upgrade their setup by improving base stats, equipping weapons and offhands from Tier 1 to Tier 10, socketing Gems, and selecting Talents that provide class-specific advantages.
Once the Raid begins, combat unfolds across several rounds. Turn order depends on each character’s Combat stat, determining whether they or the boss act first. If the character has a higher Combat stat than the boss does, then the character gets the advantage of attacking first. Characters who strike before the boss can avoid incoming damage entirely for that round.
Attacks come in 2 forms: Glancing Blows, which deal partial damage, and Full Damage Attacks, which deliver maximum potential damage.
Bosses respond with a mix of single-target and area-of-effect (AoE) attacks, and every round includes environmental damage, reflecting the hazards of the Raid environment, such as toxic fog or unstable magic. Environmental damage affects all party members equally and can be mitigated through Vitality-focused builds.
Between bosses, players have a short preparation window to use 1 potion per character, restoring health or granting temporary boosts to damage and combat stats. Potions can be crafted in advance or purchased with GOLD mid-Raid.
Can You Earn Rewards in DeFi Dungeons' Raids?
Raids seem to offer some of Nightvale’s rarest exclusive rewards. However, these rewards come with risk. If a character’s health reaches zero, they are defeated, losing all loot accumulated in that Raid and triggering a negative event.
Negative events can include:
- Major Equipment Break, which damages gear and requires GOLD (and sometimes rare materials) for repair.
- Unique Item Break, which permanently destroys a unique item.
- Permanent Death, a high-stakes risk during the final boss fight.
Fortunately, Priests possess a special ability that can prevent death-related negative events. They have a 33% chance to save a fallen ally, including themselves, and can even trigger these rolls after being defeated.
The introduction of new Combat and Vitality Talents also helps you progress further in these adventures to possibly earn more rewards. These talents, ranging from Tier 1 to Tier 5, improve survivability and performance during Raids. Examples include Battle Tempered (+5 Combat), Second Wind (restores health after each boss), and Environmental Armour (reduces environmental damage per round).
Each Raid ends when all 3 bosses are defeated or when the party is wiped out. Victory yields loot and a Battle Report to allow players to analyze every round for strategy improvements.
Phase 2 of the Raids system will introduce Leaderboards, ranking players by their Raid Scores. A Raid Score is awarded by slaying all 3 bosses. High-ranking players will receive exclusive rewards and community recognition for mastering Nightvale’s toughest encounters. Details on when this next phase starts do not seem to have been revealed at the time of writing.
About DeFi Dungeons
DeFi Dungeons is an idle MMORPG set in the on-chain fantasy world of Nightvale. Built on Solana by Longwood Labs, the game combines classic MMORPG systems with decentralized finance and NFT ownership to deliver on-chain play to earn gaming.
Players can take on one of 3 hero archetypes:
- Adventurers, who engage in combat through Dungeons, Mythics, and now Raids.
- Bankers, who earn passive income from $GOLD trades at the Loot Exchange.
- Merchants, who profit from crafting and forging activities within Nightvale.
Adventurers include 3 classes: Warrior, Mage, and Marksman. Each is designed for different combat and resource roles. Every Hero is an NFT following the Metaplex standard, and progression includes leveling stats, upgrading equipment, and earning in-game GOLD.
Core features include:
- Dungeons and Mythics, timed missions where players defeat bosses for loot.
- The Forge, used to craft and upgrade gear tiers.
- The Training Ground, where stats and talents are purchased with GOLD.
- The Tavern and Loot Exchange, the hub for staking, trading, and managing rewards.
- The Marketplace, a built-in NFT exchange for buying and selling Heroes.
The web3 idle game is designed to balance active and passive gameplay, allowing players to engage daily or progress more casually over time. By merging traditional RPG loops with blockchain-based ownership and earning systems, it looks to delivers both gameplay depth and long-term sustainability.
If you’re a fan of idle RPGs, then you can get started playing DeFi Dungeons by heading to the game’s official website and signing up with your crypto wallet, Google or Apple account to access the web3 title on your web browser.
