The developers of Decentraland have partnered with crypto art platform SuperRare and now users can also trade all art on the Decentraland Marketplace. This automatically means that users can buy crypto art using the Decentraland native MANA token.
The Decentraland Marketplace relaunched in February and until now only offered virtual land and digital wearables. “The addition of SuperRare is a huge boost to the Decentraland Marketplace”, the developers stated. Decentraland is putting 2.5% MANA on top of the listing price. When the artwork sells, the charge of 2.5% will be burned.
The announcement of the integration of SuperRare into the Decentraland Marketplace comes a few days after the end of Art Week. Inside the virtual world there were entire museums filled with digital crypto art, presentations and much more.
Last week Decentraland announced a partnership with Samsung. All Samsung Galaxy phones that support the Samsung Blockchain Wallet have access to the Decentraland Marketplace. This basically means that 30 million people now have easy access to digital art.
With the sale of every art piece, 2.5% of the price will be burned. This means that the amount of available MANA on the market keeps getting smaller. The average price for a piece of art is 0.98 ETH, which calculates to roughly 7000 MANA. That would mean that on every art purchase on the Decentraland Marketplace, an average of 170 MANA would be burned.
Currently 1 MANA is worth $0.047, which is an increase of 12 percent compared with yesterday. That would mean that 8 dollars of value would be burned upon each purchase, and that automatically makes all the other MANA tokens more scarce. There is 1.44 billion MANA in circulation. The Decentraland Foundation has another 750 million locked away for development purposes.
Decentraland is a virtual world build on the Ethereum blockchain. Consumers can buy land within this world, and build anything. Currently ownership over virtual land is highly speculative, and the value of these lands increased significantly over the past year. Decentraland launched in February, and players can now visit by using a web browser on a desktop or laptop.
Within Decentraland people can build all kinds of businesses, including shops for in-game items, art galleries and games. Currently Matic Network is funding the development of additional games. Decentral Games and Metazone are some of the companies that create games within Decentraland. For example, Metazone is selling complete game installations. Landowners can earn money from those creations, while game creators earn a share of the revenue.
