CryptoMotors Goes Big on Interoperability

The virtual car builders of CryptoMotors have put lots of effort into creating interoperability for their NFT cars. They revealed that the Neon Roadster, going for sale on Thursday for 1,1 ETH, will be usable in the soon launching racing game REVV Racing, Decentraland and in The Sandbox.

CryptoMotors is creating unique virtual cars, makes them into an NFT and builds an ecosystem. They are working on their own racing game, so that all NFT owners can race each other. However, they always meant the CryptoMotors ecosystem to be interoperable between different dapps. That's where REVV Racing, Decentraland and The Sandbox come into play. In addition the cars can already be imported into Somnium Space.

The Gen-1 Neon Roadster goes on sale this Thursday at 15:30 UTC through OpenSea. They will sell the cars in three batches, split over just as many days. Each car will sell for 1,1 ETH.

What's interoperability?

Interoperability refers to the ability of computer systems to exchange and use each others information. Gamers often talk about cross-platform gaming, which is a form of interoperability. In blockchain gaming we refer to the ability to use individual game assets in multiple games. Keep in mind, NFTs themselves can also be interoperable between different blockchains... for example, you can transfer them from Polygon to Ethereum. It's important to understand that interoperability doesn't always have the same meaning.

When we talk about blockchain games, their individual non-fungible tokens already provide a sense of interoperability. Players who acquire items in one game can sell them on a marketplace, and then buy new items for another game. It’s a very basic form of interoperability, but one concept that’s crucial for the blockchain market.

Interoperability can also be taken one step further. A token on the blockchain can do different things in different games. Players can for example use a virtual shirt in multiple games. Another example would be that one particular token is a sword in one game and a vehicle in the other. Digital ecosystems no longer restrict game assets, but allow them to move around different digital realms. The possibilities are endless. Read more here, or dive into news about interoperability.
