AI-powered game engine and platform Remix has teamed up with well-known web3 IP Pudgy Penguins to host the biggest game jam in the platform’s history so far.

What Is the Remix x Pudgy Penguins Game Jam?

The Remix x Pudgy Penguins Game Jam is a $20k developer contest that challenges players to build a game using Remix’s tools and Pudgy IP.

Thanks to the partnership with the popular web3 brand, this game jam features a total prize pool valued at $20k. The reward pool specifically contains:

  • Lil Pudgy NFT, said to be valued at $5,000+
  • $15,000 in USDC
  • 5 million Remix Points

This prize pool is up for grabs for the top 20 games, with the Lil Pudgy NFT going to the best submission. Remix Points represent one of the metrics the ecosystem is tracking to reward players and creators in the future, possibly with a token airdrop.

To determine the best game, the organizers will take into account community feedback as well as team votes. Exact reward distribution details per ranking were not announced at the time of writing.

The official X thread also reveals that $2500 has been allocated towards a bonus tournament that is set to feature the best games made for this event. Specific details on how that competition exactly works was not revealed. If you want to participate for a chance at winning the Ethereum-based PFP, or at least some USDC and Remix Points, then here’s how you can get started.

How to Participate

The Remix x Pudgy Penguins Game Jam started on September 26 and ends on October 17, and anyone can participate for free by creating a Pudgy-based game using the AI-powered Remix Game Studio, without needing to have any programming knowledge to get started. Access it by logging in on the official Remix website, after which you can open their AI game engine on your web browser by heading to your profile dashboard. Click on your profile in the top right corner of the website to access the dashboard, where you will find a “Create Game” button on the left side where you can get started. When you're ready to register for the game jam, head to the Details page of your game and select Pudgy Penguins from the game jam dropdown menu.

Your game needs to be based on the Pudgy Penguins IP, and visual assets have been provided for you to freely use inside your AI-made title. It’s up to you if your game should have Pudgy Penguins or Lil Pudgies, but it needs to be at least one of them. Don’t mix Pudgies with other “unrelated brands, logos, or universes,” as that is against this contest’s guidelines. The rules also state that your game should be respectful, meaning that there should be no NSFW content, nor any offensive, harmful, or derogatory material. Exporting or distributing your game outside Remix is not allowed without permission; the Pudgy IP can only be used inside Remix. If it doesn’t include the partner’s IP and you’re just building your own non-branded game, then you are allowed to distribute your title wherever you like.

The deadline is October 17, so make sure to confirm your submission before then. If you like vibe coding and want to try and potentially win rewards for doing so, then this game jam could be right up your alley. You don’t need programming experience to vibe code a game, as you can make a simple casual title by simply writing prompts using the beta version of the platform’s Remix Game Studio. What Is Remix?

Remix (formerly Farcade) is a Base-powered AI gaming platform that allows anyone to create games simply by writing prompts. No coding skills or game engine knowledge are required. Badges and Builder XP come from launching and updating games, while Gamer Level increases through consistent play, achievements, tournaments, and streaks. High leaderboard ranks, referrals that bring in active builders, and active participation in the community also add to your points.

Playtime is especially important. The more players engage with your creations, the more you will be rewarded. Daily streaks also boost activity rewards, making it worthwhile to keep playing and building regularly.

The more involved you are in the ecosystem as a builder, player, or community member, the better your chances of securing upcoming rewards.
