Crazy Defense Heroes Delays TOWER Chest Sale

Crazy Defense Heroes, a blockchain game by Animoca Brands, has announced that they will be delaying their TOWER chest sale. The sale will also be broken up into multiple rounds to accommodate players in different time zones. Ethereum’s high gas prices caused the delay as Animoca was concerned about how these fees may affect the sale.

The chest sale, which was initially set for May 12th, will be postponed to May 17th at 12:00 AM UTC. It has also been announced that 10% of the supply of previously announced chests will be made available to accommodate the change to a multiple rounds format.

No announcements have been made as to the dates of the following rounds. However, they have said that future rounds will have varied start times so people from all time zones can participate.

What is the TOWER Chest Sale?

The TOWER chest sale is how Animoca Brands will introduce NFTs into the Crazy Kings franchise. Each chest, available for purchase only with the TOWER token, will contain 3 TOWER game card NFTs. These NFTs will be used for various purposes in an upcoming blockchain-based tower defense game. Additionally, the NFTs will have the ability to be staked to passively earn TOWER tokens. 

Three tiers of chests will be made available, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The total supply of these chests decreases as the rarity increases. Any chests that remain unsold at the end of the event will be destroyed, along with all of the NFTs they contain. Chest opening will be made available in the coming weeks. It is unknown if the change to multiple rounds has impacted the chest opening date.

Animoca Brands is working on transforming their free-to-play titles, which make up a considerable part of their revenue, into blockchain-enabled play-to-earn games. They are doing this by adding play-to-earn mechanics to their games, starting with Crazy Defense Heroes and Crazy Kings. The TOWER token is central to this new ecosystem.

TOWER is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain that can be used in both Crazy Kings and Crazy Defense Heroes. This same token will ultimately also be used in a new and upcoming game in the franchise. Token holders will have governance and voting rights on the game’s direction. In addition, these tokens will be part of decentralized finance initiatives, including staking. However, details still need to be revealed about that.

Token owners can use their money to mint new NFTs, which ultimately are in-game cards that can be traded among players. These cards have different powers, values, and rarities. Last but not least, there will be tournaments with entry fees and which players can also win tokens.
