Free to play action RPG Big Time has announced the start of the ‘It’s Almost Summer’ event, during which players can craft to earn a share of a 600k $BIGTIME prize pool.
What Is Big Time’s ‘It’s Almost Summer’ Event?
‘It’s Almost Summer’ is a new crafting event in which Big Time players have two weeks to rank in the top 150 on the leaderboard by crafting weapons, armor set pieces, Hourglasses, and decorations for a chance at winning $BIGTIME tokens.
Specifically, the focus once again is on crafting PreSeason gear. This means that next to Hourglasses, you’ll want to craft two PreSeason armor sets, varied PreSeason weapons, and PreSeason Decorations that in particular belong to the Egyptian, Arthurian, and Evermore themes.
By crafting any of these eligible items, you will gain leaderboard points. If you end up among the top 150 players with the highest number of points by the end of the event, you will get earn a share of a 600k $BIGTIME reward pool.
The leaderboard opened on June 9 and will close on June 23 at 6 PM UTC. To maximize your chances of topping the leaderboard, you will want to craft all the parts of the Mantle of the Onyx Throne or the Vestments of the Cosmic Dominion. The parts need to be of at least Uncommon rarity and include head, shoulders, chest, gloves, legs, and title. If you do this, you will get a bonus 15,000 points. Since this is actually claimable 2 times, once you’re done fully crafting one set, you can get another 15,000 points by crafting the other set as well.

As you craft your way to the top, you will also want to do week-long tasks included in the event’s Weekly Challenge #1. There are 3 tasks in total, each awarding varying amounts of leaderboard points:
- Open 2 Scarecrow chests (Reward: 750 Leaderboard Points)
- Complete the crafting of 2 hourglasses of any rarity (Reward: 1000 Leaderboard Points)
- Open the boss chest of 4 prestige portals (Reward:1000 Leaderboard Points)
You have until June 16, 6 PM UTC to complete these event tasks.

There is also Midweek Madness #1, which just went live to give players a boost in climbing the rankings. There are no tasks here, rather, there are benefits for doing certain actions. These include refining Tattered Obulus for 20% more Gilded Obulus than usual, as well as crafting PreSeason Decorations from the Egyptian, Arthurian, and Evermore themes to get x2 leaderboard points. You can enjoy these welcome bonuses until June 12, 6 PM UTC.
Big Time is available as a free to play title during its Open Access period, allowing anyone to jump in and experience a player-driven economy while engaging in action-packed third-person RPG battles across procedurally generated dungeons.
While the game itself is free, participating in this event is not, as crafting requires owning NFTs that can be purchased from the Open Loot marketplace.
For starters, you need to own SPACE, which is your own personal metaverse in the game. On this virtual land you can connect Workshop NFTs, which come in 3 types: Forges, Armories, and Time Wardens. Each Workshop consists of 10 different rarity tiers, with Forges used to craft Weapon Cosmetic Collectibles, while Armories are for crafting Armor Cosmetic Collectibles, and Time Wardens are used to create Hourglasses. While Hourglasses can be crafted using Time Crystals, which is the game’s non-crypto premium currency that can be directly purchased or earned through random rare loot drops, Cosmetic Collectibles require having $BIGTIME tokens and Refined Cosmetic Shards. Cosmetic Shards are in-game resources that have a random chance of dropping from defeated enemies, and you can refine them using Forges and Armories.

Big Time Updates VIP Program With New Way to Increase Cosmetic Score
Shortly before the event kicked off, Big Time developers pushed out an update to their $BIGTIME VIP Program, updating it with a new way to increase Cosmetic Score.
Specifically, the new update makes it so that Workshops increase your VIP Cosmetic Score even more than before by adding “substantial bonus points at every 10-level milestone.” This means that, next to the base points awarded by Workshops based on rarity, there is now a percentage-based bonus added on top of that at each 10-level increment. With this change, rarer Workshops now give even better score multipliers than before, upping your VIP Cosmetic Score significantly.
The higher your VIP Cosmetic Score, the better chances you have of leveling up to higher VIP tiers, which also require holding a certain number of $BIGTIME tokens to unlock various benefits.
