Compete for $BEAM and More in Domi Online Public Playtest

Initially scheduled to launch in November, the delayed Public Playtest for medieval MMORPG Domi Online is now officially live on December 14th with a mostly leaderboard-based prize pool featuring a total of $10k worth of $BEAM, $USDC, and the game’s $DOMI token for the highest-ranked players.

What’s New in Domi Online’s Public Playtest?

The new playtest, which is now scheduled to start on December 14th at 6 PM GMT and end on December 21st at 6 PM GMT, will let you explore the game’s entire fantasy world for free for the first time ever. While the 24-hour stress test held back in September only included one corner of the mainland, this phase includes the entire map, giving you the opportunity to explore detailed environments such as the Vyorkur Mountains, Saint’s Rest, Leviathan’s Reach, Stannfyr Capital, and more.

That being said, not only is there way more to explore in this new playtest, but you also have way more time to do so, as this playtest lasts a whole week instead of only 1 day. This is thanks to the success of the previously-mentioned stress test, through which the developers garnered various community feedback while also uncovering server issues that the team has been working to resolve since then in order to properly prepare for this expanded test session.

Next to working on improving network stability and expanding the playable map with a variety of distinct locations to explore, the visuals and environments have also been enhanced, and gameplay is said to have been improved as well by making “critical adjustments and enhancements” that are based on your feedback from the previous test.

Speaking of gameplay, the studio is giving players complete access to all levels, skills, and professions to allow you to see everything this web3 gaming experience has to offer. As part of the game’s design philosophy, there are no level or skill caps either, giving you full freedom to try your best at surviving in an unforgiving fantasy world.

The reason for the delay of this test phase comes as a result of the team’s plans to introduce a prize pool using a “fair, seamless system” in order to turn this playtest into an engaging, competitive event through which you can play to earn token rewards. In order to make sure players can properly compete for these prizes, the team decided it best to give themselves some more time to work on this build before everything is publicly up and running.

What’s in the Prize Pool for the Domi Online Public Playtest?

The prize pool is said to consist of $10k worth of rewards spread across the Combat Leaderboard, Category Leaderboards, a $BEAM airdrop, and to players reporting unique bugs, according to a dedicated X post.

The Combat Leaderboard makes up the majority of the reward pool, and it ranks participants based on their Combat/Player level, with the top 50 players set to be rewarded for their efforts. Here is how much you can earn depending on where you rank:

• 1st Place: $1,500
• 2nd Place: $1,000
• 3rd Place: $500
• 4th-10th Places: $150 each
• 11th-50th Places: $50 each

The Category Leaderboards are designed to reward players who would prefer to master and enjoy other crucial professions instead of combat. Whether you want to be the best at fishing, cooking, blacksmithing, or alchemy, the top 3 players in each of these professions have the opportunity to win a share of the prize pool, with 1st place getting $200, while 2nd place is awarded with $150, and 3rd place gets $100.

The $BEAM airdrop comes as a result of the studio’s partnership with Beam, and includes a total of $1000 worth of $BEAM tokens that is split across the top 200 players.

As this is a playtest through which the developers want to receive valuable feedback that will help them deliver the upcoming Open Alpha Release, the studio is offering $1500 of the total prize pool to players who submit unique bug reports, encouraging participants to keep a look out for any significant issues. So, if you uncover any bug or exploit, be sure to report it to the devs as soon as possible, and if they determine it to be a unique bug report worth rewarding, you will get an unspecified share of $1500.

(Edit: Shortly after the playtest went live, the developers decided to postpone this prize pool “after uncovering an issue that is causing performance problems for some players trying to log into the game.” A new date for the prize pool event will be announced, resetting player progress. You can still play the playtest until then if you can log in.)

How to Join Domi Online’s Public Playtest

If you’d like to participate, then you can do so by going to the game’s official website and downloading its dedicated launcher, through which you can start downloading the web3 game in order to play and earn in this 7-day playtest.

This is the only way to play this early version of the MMO. In the future, when Domi Online officially launches, you will be able to also play it as a downloadable free to play title on Steam. After this Public Playtest is over, the Open Alpha Release should be up next, but an exact date for that launch is not available at the time of writing.
