Developer Pixward Games has officially launched Leaderboard 4: Extreme Edition for their asymmetrical arcade shooter, Boss Fighters, which is said to feature a whopping $500k worth of $BFT tokens for players to compete for a very limited time ahead of TGE.

How to Compete in Boss Fighters Leaderboard 4: Extreme Edition

To climb your way to the top in this competitive event, which started on December 19th at 6 PM UTC and ends on December 24th, you will have to craft and merge Legendary Digital Collectibles, earning points for creating rare items. To properly earn leaderboard points, items need to have at least one Legendary Value Perk. That said, the amount of points gained from crafting Digital Collectibles varies based on rarity, in the following way:

  • Legendary: 10 points
  • Mythic: 25 points
  • Exalted: 60 points
  • Exotic: 140 points
  • Transcended: 310 points
  • Unique: 640 points

The rarer the item created and the stronger the perks are, the more points you earn.

To craft Digital Collectibles, you need a certain amount of Proxy $BFT and usually Fusion Cores. Proxy $BFT is earned by playing the game with a Badge or Disposable Badge equipped, while Fusion Cores are gained when dismantling assets you’ve crafted.

Merging requires Proxy $BFT and Fusion Cores as well, alongside Cash, the game’s main currency that you can earn from matches.

Anyone can create an account on the game's official website and link it with their Open Loot profile, with the game itself downloadable on Steam and the Open Loot Launcher, the links to which are available in the official announcement.

How Does the Leaderboard 4: Extreme Edition Reward System Work?

If you end up getting enough points to qualify for leaderboard rewards, you will get to see your earned tokens reserved in your Open Loot account, with a special indicator in the main menu referred to as “$BFT Xmas Rewards” also showing the quantity of tokens you’ve won. These tokens however are locked.

To unlock the earned tokens reserved to you, it will be necessary to play the game using equipped Badges, but only after the TGE has taken place. Once the TGE is live, you should be able to start unlocking your share of the prize pool through gameplay. Simply play matches with Badges to gradually unlock your $BFT tokens, awarded as post-match rewards. Essentially, how long it will take to unlock all of your earned tokens basically depends on the amount of matches you end up playing each day. Well, kind of, considering Badges have to be recharged after using them for multiple matches. It could also depend on the number of Badges equipped at the same time, if the system from the Economy Test doesn’t change. You should be able to equip up to 5 Badges to your playable Fighter or Boss, so the more you have equipped simultaneously, the more $BFT you unlock at the end of each match.

Badges can be crafted using Showrunner Contracts, which are NFTs that can be bought on Open Loot’s NFT marketplace. These craftable Badges come in different rarities, with the rarer ones awarding more tokens per match. There are also non-tradable Disposable Badges that can be earned through events. Either way, Badges need to be recharged after using them a couple of times, and you’ll need FLEX and Sponsor Marks to do that. The former is an earnable hard currency, while the latter is a tradable currency on Open Loot that you get when crafting and merging Digital Collectibles.

Give it your best at securing the top rankings during this Extreme Edition of Leaderboard 4 of Boss Fighters to earn a bigger share of the $500k reward pool that is distributed in $BFT tokens.

Considering the token is not actually out yet, it’s a bit confusing if the studio is putting an actual valuation to this prize pool, or if they accidentally made an error and meant 500k tokens instead. Based on how official announcements have been written so far, they could’ve meant both. If it is actually $500k worth of tokens, then perhaps the team has a certain token price in mind that they hope will be maintained, or for there to be enough liquidity and a sizable market cap to truly distribute the suggested amount for players to claim over time while using Badges. The official TGE date for $BFT has not been announced at the time of writing.
