After announcing its expansion, Claynosaurz has now revealed more details about Popkins — its colorful new NFT collection built for Sui and part of a bigger push into web3 gaming. The studio behind the beloved clay-animated dinosaurs is rolling out a new 25,000-NFT mint, powered by an interactive booster pack system.
This is Claynosaurz's first major step beyond Solana, and it's bringing more than just NFTs. A new mobile game is also on the way in 2025, designed to welcome both crypto fans and regular players into the Claynotopia world.
Popkins are a new species in the Claynosaurz world, featured in a playful and interactive mint experience. Instead of simply minting an NFT, collectors will open Popkins Packs, each packed with digital bonuses and a shot at catching a Popkin character.
Not every pack guarantees success. If you open a Popkin Pack, you're sure to get a Popkin. But if you pull an Escape Pack, your Popkin gets away, and you'll get a full refund, while keeping all the extra rewards inside. The idea is to make every mint a win, even if you don't land the main prize.
There are three Popkins pack types:
Claynosaurz has structured the mint to reward longtime holders while opening access to new fans:
The public mint will be open to everyone for $200 per pack. If you don't catch a Popkin, you'll be refunded and still receive bonus rewards, including Pity Points, a chance at a Claynosaurz NFT, and other digital items.
You'll have until May 26 to class-select your Claynosaurz NFT. After that, selection will pause until after the mint.
Exact mint dates and further details will be announced soon, so keep an eye out as the countdown begins.
Claynosaurz first launched on Solana in 2022 with a 10,222 NFT genesis collection. Now in 2025, it's expanding its ecosystem to Sui, a blockchain known for speed, scalability, and smooth user experiences. But this isn't a chain switch, as the Genesis collection will still remain on Solana. New features and collections, like Popkins, will be built on Sui instead.
At Token2049's Sui Basecamp, Claynosaurz CEO Andrew Pelekis described the move as a way to push storytelling and gaming forward. "We're not moving chains—we're expanding to shape the future of entertainment," he said.
According to the team, the Popkins drop is just the beginning. Claynosaurz is also working on its first mobile game, set to launch later in 2025 on iOS, Android, and the handheld SuiPlay0X1 device.
The game will feature real-time creature battles, collectible-driven progression, and light storytelling. Although it runs on blockchain tech, the experience will be fully accessible to casual players.
That said, NFT holders will have access to exclusive cosmetics, achievements, and perks that tie directly into the Claynosaurz and Popkins collections.
As such, the Popkins mint is designed to make collecting more interactive and fun. By turning the mint into a "catch or bust" experience with safety nets like refunds and digital rewards, Claynosaurz is bringing a fresh twist to web3 mints. It also highlights how the studio is growing from a hit NFT launch into a broader entertainment brand.
