Checkmate Foundation, the group behind free to play magic-based chess game Anichess, has officially announced the introduction of the Genius Score, which not only benefits players of the aforementioned Animoca-backed web3 game, but it also benefits a variety of token and NFT holders too.

What Is Checkmate Foundation’s Genius Score?

The Genius Score is a benchmark points system designed by the Checkmate Foundation to reward users within the chess and crypto communities who have successfully displayed great chess performance while making clever asset picks. Whether it’s related to chess, crypto, or culture, this system is rewarding those who have practically put their intellect and foresight to the test and bet on “early tokens, blue chips, or community favorites.”

Specifically, through this scoring metric, users who qualify are set to be rewarded with the upcoming $C token. The higher your score, the bigger your allocation will likely be.

“From master tacticians on the chessboard to early adopters in emerging tech and Web3-native creators shaping digital discourse, the Genius Score unites these strengths into one signal.”

The Genius Score is determined based on the following 5 pillars: Chess Mastery, Investment Foresight, Social Influence, Smart Money, and Trading Acumen.

Chess Mastery is based on your Anichess ELO and Chess.com ratings performance. Investment Foresight is made to reward those who successfully supported top ERC-20 tokens and NFT collections before they went big – the earlier, the better. Social Reach is based on your X reach, engagement, and “ability to spark conversations that move communities,” while Smart Money is said to look at your wallet holdings to see how many high-signal tokens and blue-chip NFT projects you’ve backed. Last but not least is Trading Acumen, which depends on your trading volume and PnL for both cryptocurrencies and NFTs on the Ethereum network.

For each pillar, the system gives you a score from 0 to 100 in order to make up your final Genius Score based on your top 3 scores. Here is how you can claim it for the upcoming $C airdrop!

How to Claim Your Genius Score for $C Airdrop

To claim your Genius Score, simply head to the foundation’s official website (also linked in this official X post) and connect your Ethereum wallet to have your on-chain activity analyzed for these 3 pillars: Investment Foresight, Smart Money, and Trading Acumen. Linking your X and Chess.com accounts also unlocks the Chess Mastery and Social Influence categories. With all that set up, you can view your personalized score and sign a transaction to lock it in order to qualify for upcoming $C token rewards. Doing so will record your score off-chain as a “verified, living record of your cross-domain strengths” and not as an NFT, according to the Medium announcement.

If you’re an Anichess player who has used a social login option such as Google to play, you will then need to connect a wallet to your game account. The Medium post states that you can link your wallet through WalletConnect by heading to the game’s official website and clicking on the “Connect Dapp” option. The team recommends doing this with MetaMask on desktop for the best experience, as you might have some issues on mobile when trying to switch between browser and wallet apps.

Next to the performance-based index, users are also analyzed for their Genius Type to determine their unique type of genius persona.

Overall, by linking your wallet and accounts, you could potentially qualify for an exclusive airdrop of the upcoming $C token. The $C token is the core token of the Checkmate ecosystem that will come with varied utility. According to the FAQ on the foundation’s official website, the token is set to be used for governance activities, in-game asset purchases, as well as for supporting in-game economies. A TGE date does not seem to be available at the time of writing.
