Chainmonsters Closed Beta in November

Bside Games will no longer do an open beta for Chainmonsters in October, instead there will be a closed beta coming in November. After that the team will launch a free open beta in February 2022. This will give the team time to implement changes, hire additional team members and make the open beta the best it can be. Talking about the best it can be, Bside Games has revealed a major graphical update for their MMORPG Chainmonsters as well.

Roughly two years ago I discovered Chainmonsters, and bought early alpha access or whatever it was called back then. Since that time the game moved from Ethereum to Flow, and had a graphical upgrade that's I wouldn't believe if I hadn't witnessed they journey myself.

But before we talk graphics, it's important to note that Chainmonsters is moving into closed beta next month. Everybody who owns Alpha access or bought the Genesis NFT pack will have access to the closed beta. This closed beta will be restricted to PC and Mac, while mobile support will happen again in the open beta in February.

That also means that the alpha testing phase has some to an end. Alpha exclusive NFTs can no longer be minted, concluding the first 'seasonal' content for the MMORPG. The Genesis NFTs that the team sold will soon arrive in the wallets of the buyers. Right now, gamers can join Flow Fest to have a chance of winning some game items.

Better looking Chainmons

Bside Games has licensed some shader technology to make their cartoony visuals pop even more. The new shader technology means to add more depth to the game visually, giving Chainmonsters a more distinctive style. The entire game world, all game characters and of course the battles can now be experience in 3D.

Bside Games is now adding new mechanics to the battles, including stamina (STA), ultimates, and special tactics based on the species of your mons. Stamina recovers at a certain rate, and the mons need stamina to perform their ultimate.

Furthermore, the early version of Chainmonsters had loading screens between the areas. This will change. Bside Games will implement a streaming system to preload an undiscovered area in the background. As a result players can walk around the 8 different regions or islands freely. Every island will become a massive level, ready to explore without interruptions.

Let's now wait for the closed beta of Chainmonsters this November. If you don't have Alpha access or a Genesis NFT pack, you will need to wait until February for the open beta. You can also win closed beta access during Flow Fest, so keep your eyes open for that.

What is Chainmonsters?

Chainmonsters is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. It runs on PC and mobile devices. Players will be competing against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.

Players will need to acquire all kinds of little monsters. Some of them can only be found in certain regions, others only for a limited time. These monsters come from different elements, nine in total. These are generally home to a certain island or region: pyro, hydro, nature, electro, air, cryo, geo, and crystal.

Each of those mons has several basic attributes: health points (HP), attack, defense, elemental attack, elemental defense, speed, and stamina points (SP). In addition, each mon has individual values for each stats, which means that mons can have different stats even though they look the same.
