The developers of Cantina Royale are back with more news on the upcoming 2.0 version of the tactical arcade blockchain shooter, this time sharing details on the new talent system alongside various changes to perks.
The talent system aims to improve gameplay both for players who play for free as well as for those own NFTs by introducing a system of talents, abilities split into 3 different categories: Valor, Tactics, and Resolve. Players can choose to learn new talents in up to 2 categories, with each category containing 7 different talents.
Each of these talents can actually be leveled up to level 10, unlocking “additional abilities and power associated with your chosen talents.” As they’ll be quite important for gameplay, it will be possible to see what talents other players have in order to be able to strategically better assess the situation. Some of the available talents that players will be able to unlock include Nano Meds, which auto-heals you if your shield is at full capacity, or Adrenaline Rush, which increases your movement speed for a short period of time after taking out an enemy player.
Every character comes with their own talent affinity, which are talents that are already at level 10 and can go to level 20. While free characters come with an affinity for 1 talent, NFT ones come with 2 that are based on the perks they have, making each character unique.
In an effort to create a “gameplay-focused experience that emphasizes player choice and impactful abilities,” the developers have decided to make a couple of changes to the perk system. Some of these changes include removing chance factors in order to provide consistent gameplay, as well as adjusting perks related to stamina and dodging due to removing these gameplay mechanics.
