Cambria Season 2 Achieves $1M+ Player-Funded Prize Pool

The developers of Cambria have officially announced that Season 2: The Paymasters has successfully achieved a $1m+ player-funded prize pool.

The $1 million mark is said to have been officially passed on April 17th, just 6 days after the season kicked off, according to the official X announcement. This impressive feat was made possible by only 8862 players buying 21,877 charters and 132k+ energy.

How Does Cambria Season 2’s Prize Pool Work?

In Cambria Season 2, the Main Prize Pool consists of USDC that is funded by players spending ETH / RON inside the browser-based risk to earn MMO. The more players spend on minting Royal Charters and Energy Orbs, the bigger the prize pool. Anyone who wants to play to earn this season needs to mint a Royal Charter for 0.02 ETH or ~53 RON, as free to play players only get what is essentially a trial run to help decide whether to join in and compete for rewards or not.

This means that anyone who has wanted to seriously participate and compete for rewards has also contributed to the prize pool. That’s not enough to earn a share of it though – players need to collect and cash in loot to earn in-game tradable Coins, which is the main metric taken into consideration for reward distribution from the player-funded prize pool.

With the Royal Charter, players have their Energy regenerated every day. Energy is an essential resource that you consume for most gameplay activities, with expeditions outside safe zones draining Energy every few seconds. Regions that are more dangerous and rewarding also consume more Energy, requiring you to potentially mint Energy Orbs to continue your risky journey straight away.

What’s New in Cambria Season 2’s Midseason Update?

A couple of days after players helped grow the prize pool to over $1 million, the Cambria founder announced plans to launch a huge midseason update for Season 2.

This midseason update is said to introduce a Dungeon Warfare event, Arcane Research, Paymasters Hideout v2, a Prestige system / Masteries v2, a World Boss, and Hearthfire gear.

Dungeon Warfare is a limited time event where the goal is to mine Gold Ore in 5 different mining spots that are spread out across a massive and complex dungeon map that is packed with different levels, passages, hidden routes, and dead ends. Gold Ore is worth 500 Royal Favor / 15k Silver, and when all the Gold Ore has been mined, the event is over. Accessing this event requires having a Dungeon Pass. The non-guild version costs 15k Silver, while the Guild Mine Pass is priced at 150k Silver in the Armory shop (Sousin). Players can’t trade these passes and they don’t drop on death either, so you can safely have a pass in your inventory. You’ll need to bring the pass with you in order to enter the dungeon made for this special event. Once the event is over, players can cash in their Gold Ore at the Royal Treasury. Arcane Research allows players to unlock “the hidden potential of Tier 5 (Occultist's) Staves” that strengthens your magical abilities with increased attack speed and damage. You can level up Arcane Research all the way up to level 40, with each research level providing more bonuses. Arcane Research requires spending Silver to unlock, with each higher level costing more and more Silver.

Paymasters v2 provides players donning the Paymaster role (awarded when depositing at least 5 Charters in the Syndicate Vault) with various new in-game benefits. These new perks include access to the Paymaster’s Hideout, which you can teleport to directly using the Magic tab. This hideout is packed with all the important things, including the Bank, Trading Post, Travel Planner, Ser Althus, Shops, Restoration Altar, and more. The Paymaster role now also does not pay Paymaster Taxes until the Energy Orb cap is reached, and those with this role now also have a cosmetic new coin trail effect.

Combat Masteries have been overhauled to feature a new Prestige system that lets players “Prestige” their Masteries using a “Scroll of Mastery”. Activating this scroll resets all combat skills back to level 1, with level caps also getting reset. Using Prestige requires you to have level 95 in all combat skills. The Prestige system allows you to unlock new perks in each Prestige level. These perks include bonus mastery points, increased combat experience, and an attack speed bonus of up to 8.5%.

Hearthfire is a unique armor set that lets you deal more damage the lower your HP is. With this set, you can do up to 810+ max hits. To activate this aggressive ability, you will need to have full armor set and the two-handed Hearthfire Axe. You can find the entire Hearthfire set in the Armory (Sousin).
