Cambria Ships Patch v0.2.0
Cambria has rolled out Patch v0.2.0, a sweeping update to the Dungeons mode of its risk-to-earn MMO. The patch reworks how the mode plays from the ground up, built around a new Demonic Power system, and pairs that with an infrastructure upgrade and a stack of fresh content.
The studio framed the goal as making Dungeons easy to get into but hard to master. The team simplified several existing systems while layering in new mechanics, with shorter average runs and higher tension on every floor.
Alongside the gameplay changes, Cambria launched regional servers to cut network latency for players around the world. The rollout adds hub servers in Poland, India, and Central US, spreading low ping more evenly across regions rather than favoring one part of the map.
How Demonic Power Works
Demonic Power sits at the center of the rework. Monster spawns, side rooms, Relic chests, and other challenges that players clear now carry a chance to raise this resource. It is tracked separately from Artifacts, the loot, and MULT, the loot multiplier.
The resource feeds a roll that decides whether a player can descend to the next floor. Demonic Power resets on each descent, with a few exceptions. Every floor down sharply increases both the chance of failure and the potential payout, so pushing deeper means taking on real risk for bigger rewards.
The result is faster average runs that tend to end earlier, with floors three and four landing as the typical stopping point. No descent is guaranteed anymore, and the patch notes sum up the new tension in a simple line: greed has a price. A new Triggers System lets players tip the Demonic Power odds in their favor, giving builds a way to influence the roll.
Floor Pressure and Strongboxes
The update also turns up the pressure on how long players can linger. The longer a player stays on a floor, the more Miasma poison damage they take, and the more Roaming Threats ambush them. Players can escape to the Boss Room through an instant teleport with no channel needed, or stay greedy and keep unlocking loot for more rewards.
Strongboxes are the headline new loot source. These locked chests are scattered through the dungeons and guarded by extremely tough Ruined mobs. Opening them yields more Artifacts and MULT, and crucially they carry no Demonic Power or descent impact, giving players a way to farm rewards without spending their chance to go deeper.
The content list runs well beyond that. The patch adds seven new map layouts and four new Roaming Threat ambush mobs. It introduces Echo Mobs and Juicer Mobs, and regular enemies now have a chance to drop T5 artifacts. On the build side, players get four new abilities, eight new passives, and six new quirks. The Affix, Stress, and Chest systems were simplified, while Cursed Pact and Chest Keys were disabled pending a rework.
Inside Cambria
Cambria is a browser-based risk-to-earn MMO set in a top-down medieval fantasy world. The onchain title draws heavy inspiration from RuneScape, blending resource gathering, crafting, and combat with stakes that can cost players their assets. The economic model is play-and-earn with a twist, since venturing into a high-level dungeon or a duel can mean wagering currency or items that others may loot if you fall.
The web3 MMO is built around two main pillars. Gold Rush is the core mode, where players gather finite resources through professions like fishing, mining, and woodcutting to craft the gear and supplies needed for dungeon runs. Those zones mix PvE and PvP, so collecting valuable loot is always risky. The Duel Arena is a competitive 1v1 mode where players wager ETH in public battles, with the winner taking the pot after a small fee.
The play-to-survive design has earned the game a reputation as a degen-native favorite, with several gaming commentators calling it addictive. Cambria has logged more than 130 million USD in game volume and over 100,000 lifetime players since launch.
A Multi-Chain Footprint
Cambria runs as a multi-chain game. It first launched on the Blast network, then became one of seven titles to join the Ronin Forge program in September 2024, with its first season running across both Blast and Ronin. As of December 2024, the community could mint Cambria Cores on Ronin, NFTs that can be staked to earn Shards. Those Shards in turn mint Companions, intelligent in-game followers that are also tradable as NFTs.
Early 2025 brought an expansion to Abstract Chain, the consumer-focused network tied to the Pudgy Penguins ecosystem, timed with the launch of Season 2. That move targeted lower fees and faster transactions to suit the game's high-paced loops, and it opened the door to Abstract XP rewards for players. Season 2 reshaped the in-game economy and added gamble dungeons that require costly keys for high-risk, high-reward runs.
The progression layer leans on those NFT systems. Players have minted items like the Royal Charter, which sold for 56 RON, just under 30 USD, during an earlier rewards event with USDC prizes on offer. Cores, Shards, and Companions tie player ownership directly into how characters grow and what they can stake.
Why the Update Matters
The Demonic Power rework changes the core risk calculation that defines Cambria. By gating descent behind a roll that no amount of skill fully guarantees, the patch leans further into the high-stakes identity that drew its player base. Faster runs that end around floors three and four also lower the time cost of a single attempt, which can make the loop more approachable for newcomers while keeping the ceiling high for veterans.
The regional server rollout addresses a practical barrier for a global, reflex-driven game. Hub servers in Poland, India, and Central US spread low ping more fairly, which matters in a title where ambushes and instant escapes hinge on responsiveness. Pairing that infrastructure work with the gameplay overhaul signals an effort to grow the player base across regions rather than concentrate it.
Strongboxes and the expanded loot tables give players new targets that sit outside the descent gamble, adding a steadier reward path alongside the riskier one. With T5 artifacts now dropping from regular mobs and dozens of new abilities, passives, and quirks in the mix, the patch widens the build space for a community that thrives on optimization.
What Comes Next
Cursed Pact and Chest Keys are disabled for now, both flagged for a rework, which points to more changes still on the way for the Dungeons mode. The simplified Affix, Stress, and Chest systems set a cleaner base for the team to build on as it tunes the new Demonic Power loop.
Players can jump into Patch v0.2.0 now to test the reworked descent system, chase Strongboxes across the seven new maps, and feel out the regional servers. The full breakdown of additions lives in the game's patch notes, with the team pointing players in-game for everything that did not make the list.
